day 1983 – fools on ice

the zamboni usually swoops in immediately and leaves no time for players to get off the ice after the game. being a late game, and the last game of the night, there wasn’t anyone ushering us out. the girls took our sweet time getting off the ice; decided to stay on ice and take an bunch of photos and videos. we had the whole sheet of ice to ourselvees so naturally we wanted to capture all the weird things we wouldn’t normally get to do. we had so much fun fooling around post game that we almost forgot we the boys were waiting for us

day 1870 – fishstick opener

watching the zamboni clean the ice before the fishsticks season opener. it’s a late game but i’ll play the game and hope that i get some shut eye before i go to work. happy to report i recorded my first point of the season with a three-two win for the team. majority of the roster remains the same as last with the addition of four players. i like it in the current tier and hope we don’t get tiered up

day 1247 – robson square

i can describe robson square outdoor ice rink as a massive crowd of people that falls into two categories: those who can’t skate or skates well but causes havoc. the ice condition was horrible by the time we arrived, good thing we brought our own skates because rentals would not be worth it. i wonder when the zamboni gets a chance to pave the ice. we had a short skate before heading out to check out the new sportchek across the street

day 983 – spectating

image

i have watched a whack load of hockey through the decade, but never co-ed style. watching amateur hockey is very fascinating. the pace of it is nothing like what i am used to seeing, but it was entertaining in so many ways for it’s not just any other hockey game. the pace drops significantly when there’s a shift change. i laugh at the noobs, but it also makes me appreciate hockey more knowing the actual game is harder than it looks. kind of makes me want to give it a shot at some point when my schedule frees up and i can afford to take some risks.
