it’s been almost a year and a half since i’ve been back to my hometown but i can’t go back in midst of the crazy riots and now covid 19. i miss the good times back in hong kong, i miss some of my friends, but most importantly i miss visiting my grandparents who’s getting up there in age. the whole world’s economy is affected by this global warning. even my parents haven’t gone back with all the chaos. i wonder when it’ll all be okay to travel again
when is it my turn to take a real vacation to get away from this hectic life?? i have taken time off, i have flown and driven and gone across canada, but none of which was purely for vacation because i held competition obligations. i am drained, overworked and am in dire need of a vacation where i can just relax and get away from stresses of life no matter how big or small. there’s too many places, cities and countries on my wishlist; when and where will i be able to fulfill them??
i have established time goes by fast and only goes faster as we get older. there are so many things going on simultaneously around the world and it is nearly impossible to keep up with every single event. but let’s not allow everything to seep through without having at least tried. don’t be that lone person that stays clueless forever and the person that finds out everything last. stay on top of what’s happening around you and your surroundings. whatever your interest is, be it a trending thread, top box office movie, latest drama, special holiday event, don’t let things pass you by while the rest of society is talking about it. go out and explore the city, attend the special events and festivities. no same that i get my news through sources like social media newsfeeds with people’s post and shares. i try harder to stay on top of things that interest me, anything from sports, movies, dramas, sales, civic events but sometimes it is a good idea to expand that beyond just my interest zone. i need to do a better job at keeping up with the news on the bigger current events that takes place around the world. it’s a better idea to stay informed and i would feel more witty when i am able to sustain a conversation of any topic
came across a pretty interesting article describing how our everyday icons are designed and how it came to be. these simple signs are universal it’s amazing how our brain registers it and automatically interprets it. something humans of a few generations ago wouldn’t have known or understoood
wonder where the giant duck installation is touring these days. after seeing the real version of the german art installation in hong kong this past summer, this duckie is very tiny. my guess is its still traveling around the world, i wonder when will vancouverites get its chance to view it in the harbour
brought home another shot glass to add to my collection to keep track of my travels and destinations. my hope is i will eventually have a big enough collection to store shot glasses from all my travels around the world. it is probably easier to go to bed and dream about it because in reality i might end up in debt
