day 1101 – snatched

image

pushing it hard at the gym this morning and not letting my cold get to me. after a long session, i came out looking like i was abused but it was all worth it because i was working on a lot and a lot of cleans. despite my throbbing headache, i am stoked since i had just done my first ever barbell snatch. although it is still very raw and still have a lot of mechanics to work on, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. i’ll stay persistent and keep working on it; it’s only a matter of time before it gets better and become second nature

day 1062 – one plate

image

hitting the numbers today felt awesome but it’s more about personal achievements in the grand scheme of things. i am happy that i successfully made it to one plate goal, but even more happy i stuck with my words. it’s only going to get better from here on, as long as i keep working on it. i guess i wanted this a little more than some others i have set in the past. i followed through with it the last two weeks and brought it home today, just before the deadline i had set. grateful to have people who believed i would get the job done even when i doubted

day 1055 – bounce back

image

a relaxing walk in the sunshine after a strong lifting session. after a couple of less encouraging days last week, i am trying to bounce back by starting off this week strong. spent the first day of summer setting more personal best numbers and exceeding my expectations at the rack. the goal number is in sight and i am starting to believe what i was aiming for is possible; i figured it’s all because my mind was being a baby all along. i’m also happy that i’ve maintained my box jumps even after such a long lay off. i’ll keep working and improving until i reach and surpass all of them

day 1048 – hitting numbers

now that taekwondo competition season is slowed comes other focuses. i am exhausted from the season grind where competition is on my mind twenty four seven. taekwondo training won’t stop; it will take a backseat to other trainings. it’s difficult to make extensive development during the season when i must taper off before every event. now i can devote more time and effort into training while picking up several new things. what i did tonight exceeded my own expectations; it was a night of hitting numbers i always wanted but never attempted. i just need to keep working on it to up my game

day 1036 – familiar territory

image

they say a bad day can be made better by going to the gym – i agree. this is one of my happy place; one that i can feel safe like my home. it’s a great feeling to be back at the nash i was so used to before i went on a galore of travelling. i’ll be back often and be a regular again. i am ready to break a sweat for a night session and beat out all the troubles at hand. definitely starting the month of june off with a good session, a month of many good things to look forward to and work hard for

day 1017 – semifinals first

image

day two at calgary olympic oval is a big day – it’s competition day. the division is stacked with many torontonians who tends to lead canada’s competition. having said that, i went through all my pregame preparation like i set out to and only concentrated on what i had to do. the focus is getting into finals; that itself was my first big challenge of this year’s nationals. toronto owned the podium once again, but i gained lots of valuable experience  and knowledge through it all. it was a performance i could be satisfied with for i knew i made vast improvements from last year. lots to do for offseason training, but i’m ready and willing to work hard to take it to the next level

day 996 – supersets

friday night spent in my sanctuary lifting and dropping some iron. feels great to be back in the gym regularly after a long layoff from all the recent illnesses and misfortunes. taking it easy this week as i’m told, and only doing things that won’t cause too much discomfort. it’s definitely frustrating having lost so much gains i’ve worked hard at, but doesn’t deter me from working back to my top form. no question i am still feeling the effects but i am also feeling slightly better with each passing day. it makes me a little more grateful that i can do what i do, and i can do what i love
