my journey at a glance

a look back at my taekwondo journey from the very beginning, snapshots capturing all the memories and special moments through it all. i am appreciative of all the people i have met along the way, the instructors and students who have shaped and built my character to make me the person i am today. i cherish very moment that i shared with fellow teammates and instructors and could never have asked for anything more. training for the nationals day in and day out, everyday for the entire month, early mornings and late nights was one of the highlights of this journey and i wouldn’t have it otherwise. i started my journey not knowing how far i would be able to go and where i would end up. little did i know i would make it to become a blackbelt with heart and soul, to be an instructor mentoring others, to have competed in numerous provincial competitions, to have competed at the grandest stage i could ask for – the nationals. injuries have plagued me throughout but i have yet to give up on a dream to be a better me. time after time my knee has disappointed me and i have ran out of possible reasons why it keeps failing me. all i want to do is get better and get back to it. i am proud of all the accomplishments and challenges overcomed to get to this point but i am not satisfied with letting go because there is so much more waiting for me. nothing beats getting healthy again and training with you all, for the next nationals and everything beyond. don’t take me away from this, don’t let this be the end, i am not ready to give up what i have fought for and what we have created

day 297 – knee crapped out

once again, back again to find out what’s wrong with my leg. started feeling random discomfort last night which soon turned to numbness and eventually to immobility. little did i know i went through last night’s class running, kicking and jumping with a dislodged knee cap. the time when I turn to physio to rescue my body. he has given me strict orders to stay off it for next two days with no activities and continue to ice regularly until he sees me again

day 188 – physio time

timely visit to my physio to fix up my swollen ankle that randomly swelled up over the festive weekend. still not sure what i did to injure it again but as frustrating as it is, nothing will stop me now. this is just another challenge i must face and face the obstacles ahead, listen to my heart and be passionate with what i do

day 113 – cold as ice

image

it’s freezing cold at night and i already cannot feel my own hands and feet at regular temperature. but doing as i was told to ice my swollen wrist for some unknown reason. please don’t tell me this will be an addition to my already long list of injuries because there is already a lot to attend to

day 37 – failing wrist

meanwhile, my other hand is still failing me in many ways and everything is made so difficult when my dominant hand is weak and useless. continuing my stint of experimentation and hoping i stumble across something that will heal my failing wrist. maybe more needles, herbs and stinky ointment might make it better. just for reference, acupuncture burning gives off really strong scents and makes me feel like i am smoking some kind of weed
