day 1981 – icebox

waking up at 6am was utterly difficult after sleeping in for so many. greeted by the ice cold office on the first day back at work. the heating system was doing the exact opposite of what it should be doing – bringing the outside cold air into the office. i was so cold my extremities were frozen and my brain refused to function. all i wanted to do was hover over my heater to stay sane. i felt utterly unproductive, but i guess a lot of others were on the same boat. i was told winter is coming

day 1951 – where’s summer

the weather just got cold in a hurry and i can’t stop myself from thinking back to the summer heat. the things that we could do outdoors without having to think about frozen face and fingers. i walk outside and feel the chills even when i layer up with puffy jackets with scarves. i simply don’t enjoy the cold weathers as much and the amount of layers i have to wear just to stay warm

day 1950 – gold medal card

dsc_9137-1-16266175725448859584.jpgi was convinced to buy the gold medal card in a heartbeat after seeing the deal steve nash had offered. it’s the season my skiing set and boarding gear comes out of its long hibernation. i’d like to hit the mountains a few times this winter season but i’ll see how packed my schedule comes out to be. it’s one of my many recreations that shall always be a part of my winter tradition

day 1668 – weathering

the cold vancouver winter is quite frightful and unpleasant for my shadow. the weather forecast has issued a heavy snowfall warning that starts at 6am. i don’t enjoy the snow on city roads because i’m slipping and skidding everywhere. the sight lines up at the mountain is a much better view. it’s making me think back on the warm summer days when i would be outdoor without frozen fingers

day 1649 – poutinery

my once in a year poutine fulfilled at fishstick cypress bonder. basically the only time i ever have a legitimate reason to eat poutine because of the things served there, it’s the best bang for your buck. to be fair, the output spent skiing likely cancels out the amount this bowl contains. the weather in the morning was wet and foggy when we were up at the skychair, but the skies cleared up as the afternoon rolled around. we went at a moderately fast pace when everyone had relatively good skill level. my best guess is we went through over dozen runs and by the end my legs were pretty tired. the wipeout near the end was a pretty big jolt to my neck and back

day 1330 – pregame meal

img_20200203_1514266727094673203144998.jpgsticking with my simple pregame meal before a playoff game. my first season is officially over after tonight’s loss but i enjoyed my rookie season and is happy with the successes and improvements that came with it. scoring my first career goal was a big one for me and i only got more comfortable as the season went on. i filled the stat sheet burying three goals and adding four stars beside my name on the hard hat. i’d say it was a good rookie season for me and exceeded all my helpful teammates’ expectations. i’m really looking forward to the spring season and drop ins to see where my sophomore season will take me

day 1255 – milder weather

reminiscing the summer temperatures because vancity’s winter has been far from mild. i’ve had enough of this snow, extremely chilly days and even earthquakes today. i walk out in the morning to be met by negative eight degrees which is unheard of in vancouver. the icy roads have been terrible; i witnessed accidents and had a few incidents where my car was sliding helplessly. my shadow is just hibernating and waiting for the snow to disappear
