day 2357 – snow day

all day the news was warning everyone to stay off the roads because cars and busses were getting stuck or sliding everywhere. i wasn’t about to risk my safety driving out in the horrid road conditions, especially without winter tires. good thing i got the laptop last week so i had the option to work remotely. i was sad i couldn’t even go to the gym. since the office called it a day at 2pm, i spontaneously ventured out in the snow. here’s me being optimistic runners would suffice; i totally did not expect the snow to be a foot deep and probably should have dressed warmer. i switched the boots and plowed around in the snow

day 2317 – finest snowflakes

to make the office look less bare, a few of us have been carving some time out to cut some snowflakes. the first one was rather square to say the least. over the course of the past couple days, my crafts has improved and my snowflakes have never looked better. i took two of my finest and stuck them at my desk. i left the office on friday looking a little more spruced up and ready to the festive season

day 1680 – olympic souvy

img_20200130_22445382021318011052933.jpgi’m hoping the coldest of the winter is beyond us for this season, but if it’s isn’t, i’ll have a toque to fall back on. a lot of the times the last resort for souvenirs is edibles, but honestly receiving something other than edibles is a good thoughtful souvy. didn’t catch much of the olympics being so busy with work and life, but this will be a keepsake to remember where and when it was

day 1669 – snow boot

img_20200203_1344485607323466488794467.jpgsnow boots all around after hours of flurries. the flurries of snow fall was continuous throughout the day and got heavy at certain points. i risked it and drove to work with my shadow, but got very anxious as the snow fall got heavier and i see my car covered in six inches of white powder. like many others, i left work early, but not early enough to avoid the congested road. it took over 75 minutes of slipping and sliding before i got home, but thankfully got home safely

day 1247 – robson square

image

i can describe robson square outdoor ice rink as a massive crowd of people that falls into two categories: those who can’t skate or skates well but causes havoc. the ice condition was horrible by the time we arrived, good thing we brought our own skates because rentals would not be worth it. i wonder when the zamboni gets a chance to pave the ice. we had a short skate before heading out to check out the new sportchek across the street

day 1229 – whister getaway

image

i try to be true to myself, keep myself on track and know when i’m deserving and when i’m not. this is a very deserving winter getaway to whistler with the intent to hit the slopes and spend some relaxing time. here we get to run our own schedule – after checking into aava, it was a morning of skiing, laying low in afternoon before dinner and then an inadvertent night stroll. the slope conditions were good, icy in some but lots of fresh powder in the less travelled runs. day one of our vacation, just a day out of the norm

day 1226 – car ironing

imageimg_20200204_2142034165295790209916393.jpgthinking about car tires all day because of expected snowfall in the city and the new tire regulations up sea to sky highway. good thing both problems are resolved. one, by stacking some plates in my trunk to the add weight to my car. it might not be much, but should still make it more grounded and a bit less susceptible to skidding. the second, confirmed that my mom’s car tire meets the regulations to get up whistler

day 141 – getting my gear ready

image

it’s getting close to that time of the year again. as the mountain condition gets better, i am starting to get antsy to grab my gear and go for the first run of the season. managed to gather first half my ski gear, now just need to dig up my ski apparel and baselayers to weather the cold conditions
