day 2243 – new ubc

its my first day off for the compressed work schedule. i haven’t been back to ubc in years; the campus seemed so familiar yet unfamiliar. lots changed since my graduation but memories will stay forever. the appointment i waited to get with the sports medicine doctor since march was a disappointment and a total waste of my time. he delivered the worst news i could possibly get by telling there’s nothing he could do if now. he followed that up by saying had he seen me right after the injury, he would have suggested putting it in a boot to help the recovery. i was outraged when i heard that because i had been on the stupid waitlist for six months

day 988 – doctor blows

image

going in to see a medical doctor to satisfy my parents’ even though i knew it was going to be a total waste of time, and i couldn’t be more right. started off the week with a 39 high fever, dropped down a degree or two, but suddenly shot back up to 39 and now i even have cold-like symptoms. the doctor told me i don’t have strep throat, something i could have concluded myself. if i wasn’t semi dying, i wouldn’t even think twice about going in at all. what a way to spend my special one monther

day 796 – slow moving

image

feels like a perfect sunday wasted. the sun is shining for once and all i did was teach in the morning and attend a marcom meeting in the afternoon. opted to skip out on gym as plannedĀ and not actively enjoying the rare sunshine we will hardly get in next few months. i hope the lethargic feeling goes away soon cause i can’t afford to be an antisocial couch potato

day 774 – no service

image

lack of mobile service from all of yesterday has got me really frustrated. must have been a glitch with the new system updates. so instead of going to my saturday session, spent all of this morning backing up my phone, doing a factory reset and then setting up all my applications and preferences all over again. this had better fix the problem or else i’d be even more frustrated. living proof that i cannot live without my phone or other gadgets the twenty first century has to offer

day 508 – say hello

image

say hello to the new mini me enclosure model. it didn’t turn out as good as the big one and not the outcome i had expected. this little one took over two hours to cut and assemble but it was a little disappointing because the material was too brittle so some parts snapped along the way. in the end pretty much time used all for nothing, so back to original plan

twenties series: [seven] drama

image

throughout each of the schooling stages so far, i have met a lot of different people with unique characters. some people are born with the innate ability to be drama queens and drama kings. it is no uncommon when situations seen by different sides will result in different stories, that’s when they overreact and blow things out of proportion just to get other’s attention and seek support. i have been involved in a series of dramatic events in the past, none of which was worthwhile for the amount of time and energy put forth to resolving all that. i can’t really speak for others, maybe some people enjoy being in the middle of drama, but i personally would like to distant myself from all that. i learned that i like to stay away from drama as much as i can because it causes too much stress and takes a lot of time and effort. try to focus on what’s controllable and don’t waste my precious time stressing over what’s beyond my control. with the amount of stress i have in my daily life, the last thing i need is to add on more unnecessary stress. i find that the older i get, the less involved i want to be in these uncalled for situations. it’s just good to keep some things personal and keep life simple whenever possible because sometimes less is more. the only drama i like and is absolutely addicted to is hong kong tvb drama, otherwise, leave me out of it

day 226 – long wait

image

absolute worst thing about going down to the states is the border wait was so unpleasantly long and time consuming. times you want to slam the wheel when eight cars cross in the other lane while your lane hasn’t moved a single car, that’s when you know you picked the wrong lane
