day 2131 – amsterdam centraal

we added another country to our list by making an impromtu day trip out to amsterdam. it wasn’t a bad idea until we realized a two and a half hour train ride, one way, is actually painfully long. during the day, we almost melted because we were basically outdoor all day and it was thirty one degrees at one point. the city had a lot of historic buildings, bikes, canals and floating flower markets. it was a nice place to take photos and enjoy the scenic walk

day 2122 – iceland reykavik

first stop of my europe trip is a layover in iceland. twenty two hours to check into my airbnb and go for a crazy drive. made the trek out south to find the black sand beaches, caves and gigantic waterfalls. the most challenging part was trying to find things when all icelandic words are unprounceable. food there was so expensive even for the most basic and bland burger. i was so tired driving seven hours after a red eye flight, but had to suck it up and get back to the airbnb where my instant noodle awaits

day 2120 – flips and flops

packing could wait for until i was done my flips. i was adamant on going to flightclub tonight because it’s the last one before my long trip. i had both my ankles taped just to air on the safe side. my back tucks felt strong today. pretty happy i landed all my back tucks with shoes and no spot, meaning now i have a high chance of doing some while i’m other countries. it’ll still feel very different on harder surfaces, but i’m still willing to try

day 2117 – vacation swap

picking up my parents from the airport this afternoon while getting ready to pack and swap places with them. after dropping them off at home, i had to head out to another taekwondo blackbelt test. the only difference is this time i’ll also be taking my pretest. i never once thought i would be going for another degree. this was a very late decision that i was ambushed with cause i didn’t receive the study guide until friday night

day 2089 – sechelt wrap

easter long weekend came to an end and so did the squirtle squad sechelt retreat. the past three days have been unforgettable in so many ways. i had a lot of fun just hanging out with this group. we didn’t do anything out of the ordinary but no shortage of action – just the basics like hotpot, barbecue, drinking, board games, and sun tan to name a few. also played around with some photoshoots, held some deeper conversations and some impromptu stints of wrestling. the bond we’ve created this weekend is beyond just being teammates

day 1993 – parents los cabos

i rushed from flipping to pick up my parents from the airport after their eight day travel to the sunny los cabos. it so happened to be my dad’s birthday, but they didn’t really feel like eating out when they returned, i guess there was too much of that in mexico. it sounded like they had a relaxing time escaping the cold weather of vancity. i’m glad they live life to its fullest and travel as often as they like. though i lose some freedom, i do restore the regular my eating routine

day 1961 – fishy cravings

it hasn’t been long since i had some. but the fish craving is pretty strong once again since i didn’t get a fair share of sashimi during my vacation. going without sushi for more than week is rare, but it’s hard to be picky when on vacation. also, i was told not to trust the salmon within many places in asia. the best fishes are on the west coast, so it only makes sense i take full advantage of them and abuse my rights
