day 2397 – cartwheel back again

i wasn’t going to stop cartwheel back tucks the day after landing my first. in fact, i was determined to capture an even better one. i went straight for the panel mat, did a couple and then a couple more on the floor. at some point my cartwheel felt off and i couldn’t make the connection, but i would really disappoint my coaches and myself if i hadn’t kept at it. i ended on a good note by landing one of the best one. i honestly wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight if i hadn’t done so. this is a move i never want to lose because of all the struggles i went through

day 2392 – airtracking

getting comfortable with tumbling on the airtrack is a good sign. steadily improving on the connection some sort of backward variation out of a cartwheel. right now it’s looking a lot like backtuck, but the goal is both a flash kick and a back handspring as well. i think a different setup onto a matted floor surface may better utilize the airtrack. i’m pushing for it and looking forward to the day i can comfortably do it on the floor

day 2378 – winger dinner

got some wednesday wings after some air track training. though i didn’t make it into distinct back handsprings or flash, i made progress by just getting around on my own. i hit my head on the edge once or twice but i just have to keep doing it until it clicks. i’m pretty hard on myself for not getting the tumbling, but i know it’s a must in order for me to continue. i hope very soon it will look like what i actually want to do – the cartwheel flash or cartwheel back handspring. finished off the night having talks about taekwondo, competition, future school, side gigs, and stocks

a few weeks ago, my roundoff didn’t look remotely like a roundoff. i made up my mind that i wanted to change that so i worked on it every class, it’s really come a long way since. deep down, i ultimately wanted the roundoff backtuck but i didn’t want to press for it and waited for my coaches to have confidence in me first cause clearly i didn’t. it was offered today and i’m very happy i chose to go for the roundoff backtuck at the end of today’s session. i went home really feeling really satisfied knowing that i’ve taken a big step towards attaining what i’ve always wanted

day 1058 – tumbletrak

image

i haven’t posted one of flipping for a long time; that’s because i haven’t been flipping for a quite a while. on the tumble trak combining two moves together to make a combo for very the first time. finally feeling confident enough to try this and it was nerve wrecking, but the spotter was there so i don’t kill myself. with this attempt, i am one step closer to nailing the combo

day 960 – long layoff

image

after a long layoff, i am back to flipping to my heart’s content. i was half expecting not to be able to do anything after my shins suffered from a traumatic incident. there was definitely rust and uncertainty in the back of my mind, but that’s expected. by the end of the session i was able to pull off some decent looking tumbling. it’ll take a bit of time to work my way back but at least there’s no major setback. i am just so happy to be back on the floor working on what needs to be done

day 925 – aussie souvenir

happy to have a dear friend that’s so encouraging from the very beginning. even happier when he brought back an australian souvenir and said i fully earned it because i accomplished what i had set out to do. still have a long way to go but told myself that each and every time will only get better. i am going to keep this thermos in mint condition and let my tennis collection grow
