day 1229 – whister getaway

image

i try to be true to myself, keep myself on track and know when i’m deserving and when i’m not. this is a very deserving winter getaway to whistler with the intent to hit the slopes and spend some relaxing time. here we get to run our own schedule – after checking into aava, it was a morning of skiing, laying low in afternoon before dinner and then an inadvertent night stroll. the slope conditions were good, icy in some but lots of fresh powder in the less travelled runs. day one of our vacation, just a day out of the norm

day 1139 – parent’s chauffeur

image

parents flew home from toronto and i was the chauffeur who brought them home safely. their extended weekend in ontario went by too quickly but they do travel often so i’m already anticipating the next one. happy to have special delivery and spent the last of my unlimited freedom with mo and my half sweet taro. sometimes, just sometimes, he makes me feel like a princess

day 1122 – harrison getaway

image

getting out of the city and having a weekend getaway, just the two of us. it’s a good opportunity to give us a break from our everyday routine even though we still do much of the same things on our vacation like hit the gym, play tennis, swimming and be active. we do, however, have the luxury of relaxing in the resort and spa. spent the night in the water trying to heal our bodies in the therapeutic pool

third anniversary special edition

over a thousand days later, tongtongvision has reached it’s third anniversary. what i started three years ago as a small undertaking has emerged into something very special; my life writes it, and it writes my life. dedicating this year’s special edition to showcase clips of my 2016 nationals in calgary. as always, a traveling experience and teambonding experience that had no shortage of fun and stressful times, but left me with some crazy memories. i take all the experiences learned and hope that it will come in handy one day. i am not sure how many more nationals i have in me, but i want each succeeding one to be better than the previous. life is about making progress, life is about never settling for less than what you believe in

day 1034 – jetlagging

image

thought i would be tired post traveling, but sleep was hard to come by last night. i had a mid afternoon crash and really needed a coffee run to get me through the rest of the day. jetlags are so unpredictable; my body can’t make up its mind as to which time zone it wants to operate within. loading up on caffeine everyday until my body can detect pacific standard time

day 1032 – ferris wheel

image

i wouldn’t believe japan had a ferris wheel of over a hundred metres until i saw this with my own eyes. aside from this amusement park my parents and i rode the train everywhere and also visited osaka castle, aquarium, science centre and a judo dojo. i would say the last complete day in japan was a productive one. now it’s time to pack up and get ready to head home

solo series [day eleven]

image

it was an early start as the family went to kyoto for a day trip. i didn’t get much sleep last night but i had a good snooze during the 45 minute train ride. i taped up my ankle knowing it would be a long and tiring day, even then it wasn’t enough to last me. kyoto is a city of much smaller population but more historical temples and castles. we took the bus around and managed to pay a visit to a few of them before going back to osaka

i finally had a taste of sashimi from where it first originated. it lived up to expectations, but honestly, vancouver japanese food isn’t far behind. we have one of the best in the world but we take it for granted. it’s probably not a bad to learn how to make sushi myself

tomorrow will be the last full day in japan and on this asia trip as a whole. these trips are necessary because of family, but it’s physically and mentally exhausting. hong kong is still my motherland, but i can’t wait to head back to the place i really call home. i keep thinking ahead to sunday and anticipating seeing mo physically
