day 2035 – coaching duties

i went to flipping after work because i have nothing better to do before poomsae training. coaching was a must even on a bad ankle when i could barely walk when untaped. no question i work tirelessly for my students and just want them to improve and be all that they can. though i enjoy teaching and helping the students, these long days are very taxing both physically and mentally. i basically worked seventy thirty to nine with a two hour break. i ended up eating dinner at almost 10pm and was beyond starvation at that point

day 1831 – woodland walk

bonding time with coworkers out at coquitlam woodland walk trail. this hike wasn’t suppose to take five hours to complete, but it did. there weren’t any clear markers; i can see why there’s not many people on this trail. getting lost, going off route, going into private property and back tracking was what we did a lot of. the end of the hike was rewarding as we found a nice waterfall all to ourselves. it was tiring in the heat, but it was worth the sweat and we’re already planning the next one

day 1696 Рtreading

originally feeling pretty crummy after a day of work and taekwondo combo, and really didn’t feel like going to do any running. the perfect sign of gym rat when you autonomously drive and end up at the gym. since i was already there i might as well give it my best shot at completing today’s pre-planned workout. as i was running, i was confused why i even wanted to do this in the first place. i felt a weird appreciation for myself for having made it through the duration even when i did not want to. the size of the task wasn’t the focal point, but the fact i took on something that was challenging to me. i left the gym all smiles, but for sure feeling much better than i walked in

day 1360 – epcot

it’s bad when no solid food would stay down and three barf bags wasn’t enough to last the day. i was worried i wouldn’t last the day at epcot and ruin the disney experience for mo. i wanted him to go explore the park while i rest but instead, he guided me through and was patient when i needed frequent breaks. luckily after throwing up everything and taking a nap on the bench, i felt much better and had the energy to enjoy the rest of epcot. it was a tiring day that didn’t start off well, but ended happy and satisfied

day 1291 – official rings

being slotted to judge the official blackbelt poomsae ring is what i wanted, but i wasn’t prepared to officiate the blackbelt sparring ring. needing to rotate as centre referee and corner judges in that ring is very nerve wrecking. judging and scoring for hours makes my eyes very tired and shoulders very stiff. it’s a surprise when the president of taekwondo bc came over to chat with me, knows me by my name and said he’s happy to field any questions i may have

day 831 – mid season bonder

mid season social featured rowing and sculling practice at the richmond olympic oval. the lesson of the day is rowing is not hard, rowing is very hard. thankfully we were only doing rowing simulation in the rowing tank or else we would have flipped the boat on our second stroke. this is a great choice of activity for team building exercise because it requires so much teamwork and communication. a very fun exec bonder where i exerted a lot of energy
