day 2327 – physio revisit

my day off spent seeing doctors with a stick and puck session in between. the last time i was at this clinic was back in march. that time i was already attending to the same ankle injury. the only difference is this time i already know that my ankle ligament is torn and there’s nothing he can do to fix it permanently. he worked on my shoulder and elbow for the longest time before putting my ankle back into alignment, but said i’ll have need to wear an aircast brace for stability. it honestly isn’t something i can accept for the rest of my life

day 2165 – pretherapy

a massage appointment that was rescheduled and rescheduled since early june. this was an appointment was originally set to take a look at my stiff neck and shoulders but turns out he has to tend to my hip was well. one thing i need to do a better job of for self care is stretching and rolling. i should consider switching my mattress and pillow because the pain and tension is ongoing

day 1571 – home and away 

another one of my design creation turned into something rad for the entire team to work. took my manager’s advice to opt out of the reversible and get two separate jerseys. i can’t wait to be back on the ice to debut this jersey, but first i must wait to be cleared by my surgeon and physio. six weeks in a splint was what i was told by my first doctor. one doctor, one hand specialist, two surgeons, one physio, and one hand therapist later, i’m still unsure what my status is

day 1123 – going natural

second day of adventures at harrison was a laid back one. i don’t think my body understands the concept of sleeping in, i naturally woke up at 8am without the help of an alarm. we hit up the driving range and explored bridal falls before taking full advantage of the resort facilities two days in a row, dipping in the hot springs and doing some laps in the pool. been a relaxing trip so far, hopefully it’ll be what i need to recharge me when I return

day 840 – finish my set

lights are out at the gym and i am the last one in there still trying to finish my set before the door closes. i struggled through every rep of every set, but i completed it all and made it count. the increased set and intensified circuit got me real good but i deserved it and didn’t dare think twice about complaining or skipping out reps. i know i am going to be sore tomorrow and i also have more training tomorrow, but i will take it like a champ. it’s a good kind of sore knowing i did the right thing

day 822 – back in motion

really my first time back in the gym after knee failing and having a brief scare with my ligament diagnosis two weeks ago; and that for me, is beyond a long break. i was a little worried i wouldn’t be capable of anything near my best but most of my motions felt alright. it felt really good just to be back cause i missed it dearly – i just missed moving, period. definitely pushed it pretty hard today and expect to be pretty sore tomorrow but that’s a price i will pay

day 763 – getting sweaty

despite bouts of headaches and some sort of unknown illness, i was determined to start september on the right foot; the first of september means first of september. august had its ups and downs, but many things are about to change and things are really going to take off in september, i won’t let it slip away without getting what i want. in the meantime, keep grinding even when times are tough

day 756 – beat the rough

late night gym time all to myself to digress because it has been a rough day. just needed some time alone to let me mind rest and let it all out and couldn’t think of a better place than this. i figured this is a better way of putting my excess and bottled up energy to use because earlier today i came ever so close to kicking someone in the face and had to use every possible reason to restrain myself from letting my limbs loose. if it did, she wouldn’t even know what hit her. i can’t believe how rude and irritating some people could be; she clearly crossed the line today and i take no exception

day 655 – don’t stop grinding

it’s victoria day long weekend and i find myself not used to having extra time off so might as well go to the gym. i really should be resting since my back and knees are tight, but that wouldn’t be my style. it was awfully quiet at nash, and i like it that way because i hate waiting for equipment. i must keep grinding; don’t stop because other people stop to enjoy their long weekend. loving the new benches and wished they were adding new benches instead of replacing old ones

day 542 – bring it on

i am so excited to be breaking in my blue flyknits at the gym because i am slowly trying to retire my pink free runs which have been through thick and thin. back at it bright and early this morning, even a sore throat and cough can’t keep me out from a saturday morning workout. i think i will feel more energized after sweating it out and getting some blood pumping again
