day 2212 – maxi knee

slightly sprained my lcl as my chiropractor says, but he agreed i could tape it up to keep doing my things. taped it up in the morning to go with my gym attire because the team is doing a full morning of showroom cleanup. together with the sales director, the two of us did the heavy lifting, moving seven vanities with stone tops, many headboards and bedbases while the three others some boxes, linen and bubble wraps. at the end of the tricking session, i made some headway on my touch down raiz which was surprising because up to two days ago i still had no idea what i was doing. i hope to continue that and use it in a combo one day

day 1998 – shin splints

the shin splints got really bad today. i had a really hard time at taekwondo, but still had a hockey game to play afterwards. we were so short of skaters this game; we just rolled the skaters since we could only muster two on the bench. right before hockey, i did a retape and also did a combination of heat pad and vyper rolling. not helping the shin by having hockey on back to back nights

day 1786 – thoracolumbar

img_20200204_190327344981603760484917.jpgnot how i had planned out my thursday. i had to leave work early, miss bootcamp and skip softball to visit my chiropractor. only then had i found out i injured my thoracolumbar junction. i’m in so much pain i couldn’t rotate, bend or reach. i wanted to continue with my sports, but there was really no range for that. of course, i tried to tape my own back and needed to prove it can be done. i struggled behind the mirror for over an hour before putting it with proper tension. only then i realized the jammed part of the vertebrae had a softball sized bruise

day 1729 – tape-less tape job

img_20200130_2119092999369881383456291.jpgreplacing new tape on top of old tape all week long. it appears i have tape on even when i don’t actually have any on. it’s been that kind of life since last week and i’m surviving off tape job after tape job until i can go into physio. as it stands, my workload is so insane there’s no way i can take time off for an appointment. this doesn’t stop me from going to dodgeball, and won’t stop me from going to taekwondo

day 1724 – sunrun package

being handed my green bib and corporate team tech shirts today made it apparent that the sunrun is only days away. this will be my third time doing the biggest run in vancouver and first time in the green division. i had pretty high expectations for this run but i’m not sure what to expect after taking an ill-advised dive earlier this week. all i can do is tape up my knee and hope that i can finish like i had set out to do. all i’m asking for is to keep pushing as long as my tape job holds up my knee together

day 1691 – she-unit

showing up in plain white beaters and snapbacks for another year of kings and queens tournament. the tournament competition level was very high as always and although we didn’t make it far into the elimination rounds, it’s always good to be with the gang. good thing my chiropractor was on site to do some heavy taping on my shoulder so i could hold it down enough to play. i must say it was weird playing in white beaters and i don’t think i’ll consider that again

day 1661 – gstrings revamped

img_20200130_2254408504350019668900813.jpgfour months is a long time to go without having played a dodgeball game. my thumb is heavily taped up and ready to get this season underway. as expected, i was rusty with my throwing, catching and timing. i’m in no position to complain because just being on the court with my teammates and friends is a luxury i haven’t had in far too long. i never take being able to walk on and off the court unscathed for granted. i know that with play, slowly but surely i’ll work my way back into my game form

day 1628 – stick check

got my sticks newly cut and taped for my real return to fishsticks since october. it’s been quite the wait, painful to say the least, but that’s what makes every shift that much more precious. though we had a really short bench, we skated hard until the end and got a few back. i felt good out there knowing i didn’t forget how to play or skate. i had fun on the ice and that’s all i asked for, the point was a bonus. the point race puts a little friendly fire so to push us to work harder to earn the bet

day 1520 – growlers

i had no handle on what damages could happen today, but i have three appointments lined up. honestly think i make terrible decisions but i really wanted to play dodgeball after sitting out for an extra ten days. it’s taped up to the point where almost no skin on my hand is visible, yet it still hurts to grip the ball, catch the ball, throw the ball. i came out not thrilled expecting more, but at least playing today didn’t make it much worse

day 1510 – hand pain

img_20200203_145608881080042371361026.jpgit’s back to square one. after my making my first catch of the dodgeball night, my hand was in excruciating pain and could no longer grip a ball properly. being me, i thought that if i taped it would allow me to play; if i taped more i could continue; and if i tape enough to make it immobile, i could finish the night. i finished the night, but once the last game was over, i realized i no longer have a functional hand. it does open nor close, it doesn’t hold a fork, nor a steering wheel; it basically doesn’t function for my basic needs
