day 2194 – hard surface unlocked

i’m very proud of this because i just did my first back tuck on hard surface and i went for it without the spot that was offered. i’ve overcome a lot; from fearing to do it myself to now finally taking it to hard ground. i’m sure my coaches are also proud of this, one wasn’t present but he who has been pushing me to get my back tuck variations. i’m gunning for the x-out and more variations after that. the bonus of being able to do flips in different environment is catching the sunset in the background

day 2157 – civil appearance

after three weeks of vacation, and two weeks of bailing due to unforeseen circumstances, i’m making my appearance back at civil war. i was worried i wouldn’t remember how to gear up or how to skate. to be honest, my legs were gassed halfway through the ice time. living proof that there are some things you don’t forget once you learn, but there are things that will feel slow and be out of shape after a while. i understand why people could puke first day back after some time. it’s a good feeling to be back on the ice, i’m sure my legs will have some affect tomorrow

day 2065 – river road stroll

a sunny stroll along river road is what i needed just to clear my mind. let’s face it, i’ve been super burnt out from work and other things that i’ve have sort of lost myself. this is a reminder sometimes i need to slow down the pace to simply smell the flowers and take in the moment. i miss the days where i could take walks without stress, without rushing from one place to another. i take on a lot to please everyone, but maybe sometimes i just need to put myself on the priority list

day 1511 – prince rupert

the view that my mom is currently seeing in prince rupert is something to be envious when vancouver is raining all day. my favourite season is on it’s way out and it’s sad to know that the rainy season of raincouver is upon us again. i know it’s greedy to want a longer summer; i just haven’t taken full advantage of the warm sunny days and done enough outdoor activities

day 1456 – dugout view

playing softball with this back drop is quite the pleasure. i’m still thinking about the ump’s strike zone that made me strikeout. how can a pitch be called strike when i have to step back to avoid getting hit by the pitch?? playing first base is always fun and it always makes it better after making a few good plays. our opponent may be a tier above, but it turns out they’re a bunch of douchebags with poor sportsmanship

day 1368 – at the rink

another week or drop in hockey to keep me on the ice. i’m still working on getting used to the skates but i feel better already. today’s focus is on playing positional hockey and becoming a smarter player with good iq which is equally as important as putting the puck in the net. i find playing drop in is a bit different than regular league because it allows me to skate freely and try new things. i also find regular lines got me used to the quicker pace and more physical play so i’m trained to be strong on my skates

day 1004 – winding down

image

glad i made it through a crazy long saturday and able to sit and wind down at the end of the day. woke up early and got my day going with a strong morning gym session and ended the day nicely with mellow night out and quality down time. sandwiched in the between was a mediocre afternoon; teaching was draining and training felt pretty unproductive because my hamstrings are feeling miserable
