day 2065 – river road stroll

a sunny stroll along river road is what i needed just to clear my mind. let’s face it, i’ve been super burnt out from work and other things that i’ve have sort of lost myself. this is a reminder sometimes i need to slow down the pace to simply smell the flowers and take in the moment. i miss the days where i could take walks without stress, without rushing from one place to another. i take on a lot to please everyone, but maybe sometimes i just need to put myself on the priority list

day 1810 Рdragon and demo

ten years of early morning stanley park doing walk with the dragon in what must be thirty degrees. it’s never easy getting through one these but this year is different; sifu is not in town to give orders from all directions. nonetheless, being under the sun in blazing heat for five hours drained all the water out of me. the demo went fairly well and we got out of the venue before 1pm. my heel started giving me problems as i was leaving the park. when i got home after lunch, all i couldn do was lie down. there was no point in going to hockey in this state, i was better off taking a nap before dinner time

day 1495 – september stroll

whenever labour day weekend rolls around, i feel the need to get some the last of vitamin d before rain hits. good thing it’s still a hot day so i spent it with a stroll at fisherman’s wharf. the heat wave was strong today as with this summer season, but i’m not complaining. a change up was welcomed, maybe there’s hope that things will get better. illusion or not, my heart will soon tell it’s genuine. i’ll let it be the judge to see if it can be mended

huffs and bluffs

i can finally check off the top item on my hike wishlist after completing the eagle bluffs. year after year, we go on hikes together and i’m very appreciative we can continue to keep the tradition every summer. we started at the base with a group that deemed themselves as experienced hikers that’s been going all summer long. we humbly said this was our first one of the summer, and that’s no lie. not long into the hike, we left them in the dust. along the way up we stopped at a cabin lake where many people took a dip. at the very top of it all was a beautiful vantage point where we stopped to take photos, eat snacks and rest. just as we were getting up for our return trip, we saw the same group of hikers who dumbfoundedly realized they were massively lapped. we’re not experienced hikers, but we’re speedy; took us roughly four hours to complete the round trip. i still go many hikes on my wishlist and hoping i can cross off a few more next summer

day 1460 – hot tennis

my daily dosage of sports doesn’t stop even when tired. playing some rusty tennis in mid day heat probably isn’t the smartest choice, but it was spontaneous alternative to a bailed hike. two plus hours out in the heat hitting balls got me pretty dark. i can’t imagine a couple more times and i’ll have enough vitamin d to have some crazy tan lines. got some quiet time in the middle of the day and quality time at night because it just isn’t a sunday without having seen

day 1230 – blackcomb slopes

image

hitting the slopes for day two with this one. the skiing condition was great on blackcomb and even had snow making machines spitting out more powder; the sun was out but it was so cold i couldn’t feel my hands or feet. this one kept complaining about his feet and quad tiredness. would have liked to get more skiing in, but i’ll have my chances in the upcoming weeks. spent the night enjoying a nice steak dinner at earls and spiked drink

day 1090 – frisbee game

image

my cleats have been busier this summer alone than it has ever been in last few years combined. bringing out my cleats to play some ultimate frisbee; reliving six or seven years ago when i last played in vul. i was suppose to play conservatively, but i didn’t think twice before making a diving play. my back and ankle feels terrible after laying out to make a catch, but at least i made the catch. i was fun but i haven’t ran so much in a day; cardio is not my thing
