day 1999 – gamblers corner

hitting up grand villa because i felt the need to earn the money i lost back on new years eve. since the craps table wasn’t open when i arrived, i gave black jack table a shot. most of my time was spent at there and it treated me well. once i won back the fifty, i knew that was the time to cash out and call it a day. the rest of the day was spent rather inactive just catching up on some work before taking me dad out to dinesty for a belated birthday dinner

day 1635 – canucks ice

this is an extraordinary experience being able to skate on the sheet on ice that the canucks play on. third straight day lacing up my skates to skate on arguably the best surface in vancouver. i really can’t turn down any chance to attend canucks members exclusive events like such. i came for the skating experience, but i got more than that; the bench, the hall and locker room were all available for roaming. fin was also on hand so i got a chance to take a goofy photo. two straight sundays where i didn’t even bother setting an alarm because i definitely earned the sleep in

day 1467 – dockside view

a sunday going across the bridge to north vancouver, west vancouver, then granville island. hit up the lonsdale quay market and park royal before some fancy seafood. this isn’t our usual calibre for dinner, but came here for the patio dinner and that view. treasure the extended time together; it only happens on special weekends. it was an enjoyable good day but i’m disappointed i couldn’t keep the better part of me to myself

day 1446 – rollerblading

woke up at six to watch federer win his ninth wimbledon title. thought i would do something spontaneous before my hockey game. somewhere at the bottom of my sports closet is my dusty blades my parents got me back when i was in my early years of highschool. wasn’t sure if they still fit, wasn’t sure if they required a tune up, wasn’t sure if i remember how to roller blade, but didn’t think twice before strapping them on

day 1432 –  strathcona

it was neat to spectate a strathcona and china team basketball game. up until halftime was a good paced game and close matchup. it’s been a long time since i last played or5ganized basketball. it brought back a lot of memories of the hamber hardwood days and how i wished it never ended. i really do miss it but i was told to give it up for the sake of my knee. even though my knee has gotten stronger through the years of rebuilding it, i’ll forever be reminded how long and hard that road was

day 1383 – mapo tofu

my family is away in asia so we had our’s early. this is the perfect time to have some lomo time. i’m stuffed from our home cooked meal as tried our hand at making mapo tofu and siu mai. it turned out very tasty.  the only adjustments i would make for next time is taking out the black bean paste and the proportion of tofu to meat. we’ll be using each other as test subjects while i have the entire house to myself. the weekend passed by too quickly but it was a pleasant one

day 1348 – sushi chefs

just a mellow sunday planning our itinerary along with making california rolls, wakame sushi along with miso soup for dinner. second try at making homemade sushi is much better than the first because we learned from our amateur mistakes. it also helps when we have the proper rolling utensils. note to self, this serving size is way too much for two and can probably serve four
