day 2207 – espr playoff

team espr at the riverway field bright and early for the softball playoffs. it wasn’t the playoff result we wanted, but we had a really fun season, my fourth with this team. each person took many strides throughout and proved that we could contend with teams from the top of tier c. for me, it was switching from first base to hold down the fort at third base. the captains handed out team awards this year; i won the comeback player of the year after missing some games due to injuries. but what i least expected and was winning the female mvp of this season

day 1951 – where’s summer

the weather just got cold in a hurry and i can’t stop myself from thinking back to the summer heat. the things that we could do outdoors without having to think about frozen face and fingers. i walk outside and feel the chills even when i layer up with puffy jackets with scarves. i simply don’t enjoy the cold weathers as much and the amount of layers i have to wear just to stay warm

day 1844 – portabella burger

with the completion of civil war comes the season end barbecue. classic portabella mushroom burger is actually using a portabella as the top bun. it was a bit disappointing to run out of food at a barbecue. i didn’t get my weiner but i guess my body didn’t have use for that extra calories. we had to order church’s chicken just to feed the crew. just a night chilling with people i play with and against. i also got four big mosquito bites from the night even though i applied bug spray

day 1784 – trenta

img_20200130_2310084834155529002452534.jpgmy first ever starbucks trenta sized drink seems to be justified by the hot and stale vancouver weather. must replenish all the water lost and used during the after-work bootcamp. holding that ginormous matcha lemonade in one hand while melting underneath my sweaty workout clothes. even though there’s a heat wave and my car thermometer reads thirty plus, i still roll down my windows instead of wasting gas on air conditioning

day 1763 – strung racket

got my steam racket restrung, finally, and ready to hit some tennis balls. crazy that over the course of the idleness, it has lost twelve pounds of tension. i’m really looking forward to the prime time on the court now that the weather is getting really good. i forgot how much i love playing and watching this sport, and how it will always be one of my favourite childhood sports growing up. also looking forward to catching some local tournaments whenever possible

day 1748 – foul territory

img_20200130_2141412649232542651769604.jpgi was five feet away from possibly hitting my first ever home run. i had never struck the ball so hard in my softball days and if it only shifted five or so feet to the right, it would have landed in fair territory well over the left fielder. we played a high tiered team today and got creamed but we’ll be back on the field for more softball come thursday. it was a scorching day with sweat down my back even when standing on the field. on my drive home, my car registered thirty degrees celsius

day 1625 – surf and turf

throw it back to the days of summer and when expeditions brought us tight. those were the days the gang would get together to go out in the middle of the sea to do weird things. that one summer i wakesurfed, wakeboard, paddle board, kayaked and canoed. as a kid i loved the water, until it became bitterness for something i couldn’t fulfill. it’s time i get back into it and revisit what i grew up doing. summer is months away, but i have some plans up my sleeve to cross off things on my bucket list

day 1511 – prince rupert

the view that my mom is currently seeing in prince rupert is something to be envious when vancouver is raining all day. my favourite season is on it’s way out and it’s sad to know that the rainy season of raincouver is upon us again. i know it’s greedy to want a longer summer; i just haven’t taken full advantage of the warm sunny days and done enough outdoor activities

day 1495 – september stroll

whenever labour day weekend rolls around, i feel the need to get some the last of vitamin d before rain hits. good thing it’s still a hot day so i spent it with a stroll at fisherman’s wharf. the heat wave was strong today as with this summer season, but i’m not complaining. a change up was welcomed, maybe there’s hope that things will get better. illusion or not, my heart will soon tell it’s genuine. i’ll let it be the judge to see if it can be mended

huffs and bluffs

i can finally check off the top item on my hike wishlist after completing the eagle bluffs. year after year, we go on hikes together and i’m very appreciative we can continue to keep the tradition every summer. we started at the base with a group that deemed themselves as experienced hikers that’s been going all summer long. we humbly said this was our first one of the summer, and that’s no lie. not long into the hike, we left them in the dust. along the way up we stopped at a cabin lake where many people took a dip. at the very top of it all was a beautiful vantage point where we stopped to take photos, eat snacks and rest. just as we were getting up for our return trip, we saw the same group of hikers who dumbfoundedly realized they were massively lapped. we’re not experienced hikers, but we’re speedy; took us roughly four hours to complete the round trip. i still go many hikes on my wishlist and hoping i can cross off a few more next summer
