day 2204 – pause snatch

it feels weird to be ay apex on thursday instead of tuesday, but it’s better to give my back and neck more time. to be honest, both were still so stiff and tender than i didn’t think i could snatch. week one of tech week working on pause snatch and front squat on the minute style. it felt pleasantly strong and worked up to thirty eight kilogram pause snatch complex. it was a busy day – i had three back to back activities today, all half an hour apart. after olympic lifting session, was softball playoffs round robin and massage appointment. needless to say i didn’t get home to eat dinner until 9:46pm, and at that point i had fourteen minutes left to eat before my window closed

day 2165 – pretherapy

a massage appointment that was rescheduled and rescheduled since early june. this was an appointment was originally set to take a look at my stiff neck and shoulders but turns out he has to tend to my hip was well. one thing i need to do a better job of for self care is stretching and rolling. i should consider switching my mattress and pillow because the pain and tension is ongoing

day 2020 – snowed in

had the luxury to sleep in until eleven, like what most people would do on sundays. i decided to skip powerskating because i’ve lacked sleep all week not to mention stiff from two hockey games. woke up and realized it was it was snowing outside. my plans of meeting with friends had to be canceled because it of the unsafe road conditions. i even had to miss out my workout and open gym flipping. i can only imagine what it’s like up on the mountain today

day 1559 Рoccupational therapy 

walking into the hand therapy clinic made me feel inferior, maybe because of the ghetto apparatuses, maybe because i was outnumbered by elderlies. therapist did a few tests before i soaked my hand in a so called whirlpool. dipped my hand in a pot of wax before she started manipulating it in ways that was utmost uncomfortable. the passive force was tender at the shattered joint and the connecting soft tissue. i was told the improvement is promising, but also reminded me my bone was broken in pieces that also involved a joint. as such, there will be complications and requires much more patience from me

day 1129 – salt and pepper

i was pretty bored and lazy today even though i had a ton of things waiting for me to do. the family commented on how rare it was to have me eat out with the rest of them. it’s been a long time since i hardly recall when and where was the last. it was such a long dinner, my everything was so stiff by the time we took the bill. got home and did some painful rolling so i can still move for team practice tomorrow. i’ll also get to my long to do list tomorrow

solo series [day two]

after a thirteen hour flight, i have safely landed at hong kong airport. during the long flight, i napped, ate, wrote and watched movies; i only got up twice to use the washroom. my back and legs are extremely stiff and i seriously couldn’t help but to miss the gym already

my parents flew in earlier last week. however, i was a surprise visitor; no one knew i was going to make an appearance. when i rang my grandma’s doorbell, she was so stunned she was at a loss of words. she reminds me i haven’t been back to visit since 2013? i am always amazed at her memory; hard to imagine a ninety year old has a better memory than me. thankfully it’s not as hot as i expected it to be for this time of the year, but i heard it was pretty hot and humid a few days ago

of course gym is not the only thing i miss back in vancouver. i already miss mo dearly. i always glance at my watch wondering how he’s doing and what he is up to. i hope he’s working hard back home and catching up with people he hasn’t seen for a while

although i slept on the plane, going through so many flights and the troubles of getting on and off them has been taxing. i really wanted to wait until mo was awake before i head to bed but my head and eyes were hurting. it was time to call it a day

solo series [day one]

i am excited to be heading home to hong kong to see my relatives and visiting japan for the first time. it’s a long overdue trip as it’s been three years since i last visited hong kong and my extended family. my parents decided to keep my appearance a top secret. i’m curious to see how my relatives react upon my arrival. now that nationals is over, i will definitely cut back on competition training and turn my attention to other trainings. but before i dive back into training, i need some time off because it’s been a while since i last had a real vacation. i’ll also take this opportunity to recuperate from the recent stresses of life. only then will i come back recharged and ready to make some tough decisions and big changes

for the next twelve days that mo and i will be apart on different continents, i will writing my “solo series” to keep everyone back home in the loop with what’s happening in and around my life. stay tuned and be ready for my journal of adventures
