day 2374 – squat days

skipping the paused squats and added a little bit of weight to the old fashioned back squats. it was deloaded week so kept the weights in check and didn’t stretch myself too far. i also did some lighter cleans for feelers and they felt doable. i hope return to apex this week and start off feeling more fresh. it being the first of february sure seems like some resolutioners dropped off because the gym is slowly becoming less packed

day 2370 – antsy cleans

a fun gym session joined by two friends. i last olympic lifted three weeks ago because of pec strain. i was scared but i wanted to see if i was able to do light cleans without shoulder pain. i started with sixty five pounds but somehow felt okay and worked it all the way to one plate. i probably could have done one forty, but wasn’t going to risk it. we ended with some box jumps and i’m happy to report i jumped a thirty nine inch box which basically matches my personal best. now i feel a little more motivated knowing my ankle can get back into things. my previous goal was to hit a forty inch box jump, but i think a forty two may be a goal down the road

day 2358 – packed parking

just trying to get to the gym after work and the parking lot was jam packed. i normally don’t go to the is location after work since i’d be in richmond, but today was different because i worked from home. once i got into the gym finally, the whole gym was so crowded i couldn’t really do everything that i wanted before i took off. it’s a combination of rush hour and resolutioners that made this place so full and uninviting. i’ll only come to this location during off peak hours

day 2333 – hit and runned

shitty coming out of the gym after a workout to find your car was hit and runned. i can’t believe steve nash doesn’t have any security cameras outside in their parking lot. they’re going to resort to tim horton’s camera from across and hoping it’s angled to see more of the parking lot. i sure hope i find this criminal so not only do i not have to pay deductible, but i can also report this is icbc as a criminal offense

day 2288 – traffic nightmare

a traffic nightmare at ironwood intersection after work. some coworkers decided not to wait in line and went to the riverside, others walked to the plaza for dinner. i on the other hand waited in line and was trapped for over forty minutes before i got onto number five road. instead of waiting more at knight bridge, i went straight to the gym to do an upper body workout instead

day 2286 – baby steps

stepped foot into the gym or any sports facility for the first time since the freak incident last monday. i may seem crazy to many, but as long as i can limp, i wanted to do this. i didn’t do any lower body exercises, and everything i did was done seated or off the foot. i also didn’t use any barbell or any weights that i’m used to. i do see and feel progress but it’s slower than i’d like. i limped in with no expectation and left happy because it felt so good just to be back in any kind of action

day 2067 – clean numbers

determined to test some numbers to close off march, i hit the gym first thing in the morning to do my full cleans and back squat. i cut straight to the chase to yellow plates after quick warm ups with red plates, grey plates and green plates. i got a little carried away and decided to snatch, only to realize i ran out of time for back squats. the numbers i hit today matches the heaviest i’ve ever cleaned and snatched, but with improved ease and technique. i feel the one plate mark is within reach
