mostly been a winger for squirtle all season, but getting my time at defense tonight. i much enjoy that our team can be in the same locker room as opposed to separating it be gender. we lost by a margin, but i still had fun. honestly my ankle is struggling when in that skate. the ganglion on the medial side is only getting worse and really bothers me especially in the second half of the game. i’m not sure what i need to do and how to address this issue. what will it take to continue playing this sport?
defense duties today was fun because my defense partner mentioned i have the green light to pinch at my own risk. i did just that and took advantage especially when the opposing weaker forward was on the ice. i didn’t make any defensive mistakes and even i came so close to potting one in the net. we still won 3-2 to continue the squirtle win streak. i wish i could say the same for nachos
playing on the wing and trying to keep up beside two very experienced linemates. i had an assist in the game, but honestly i was disappointed with my own play misjudging some and not converting on the many chances. flipping before games really takes the legs out, but i think i just need to train my legs harder to get them into better shape. this will be a long season ahead, let’s get it
it wasn’t a well kept secret, but the formal announcement was made at the dundas team dinner. squirtle assistant captain is tying the knot next summer and the date is set. so happy for her and looking forward to the stag parties we will be having. we had a round of shots to celebrate and i only had an order of salad roll because i wanted to hit up open gym for some flips
i played pretty horrible game of civil war, but still had fun off the ice. all the fun horsing around in the locker room making jokes, discussing pick up draft, chucking tape balls and locking out people. the squirtle squad locker room is never a dull moment. i felt like i at least had my legs under me second game back, but playing centre and forechecking in an olympic-sized rink will do it
one of the things i’ve always wanted to try growing up was to play goalie on ice. i got that chance today during squirtle open ice. playing in net was fun, but i didn’t enjoy putting on twenty extra pounds of gear. i imagine i’d be a hasek type goalie who sprawls into full out stretches, but a bad groin didn’t allow me to go down into butterfly all that much. i had a really good catching side that carried over from softball, but the blocker side was rather uncoordinated. i was drenched in sweat by the time our session ended
huskies and squirtle go head to head again for the second time in three days. the grand final was neck and neck down to the wire until we sneaked out the win with an overtime goal. i played in the back end again and made some bold gambles which sacrifice my body with sprawling plays at the blue line and diving in the last minute of regulation. a few times i tried to jump into offense and even had a few shots on goal. i’m so happy to have been a part of the team building on the friendship. this season and our championship win was truly a team effort
the zamboni usually swoops in immediately and leaves no time for players to get off the ice after the game. being a late game, and the last game of the night, there wasn’t anyone ushering us out. the girls took our sweet time getting off the ice; decided to stay on ice and take an bunch of photos and videos. we had the whole sheet of ice to ourselvees so naturally we wanted to capture all the weird things we wouldn’t normally get to do. we had so much fun fooling around post game that we almost forgot we the boys were waiting for us
