day 1955 – flips for food

mvimg_20181210_1947011996274191277911512.jpgdoing lots of flips before going for late night sushi at koto. i was working on a lot of butterfly twist, something i tend to stay away from because i simply don’t feel like i understand. i guess i’m embarrassed with the struggles of not understanding what the motion needs to be after take off. some days i feel really down and think that maybe i’ll never get it, and be the only person that won’t have a chance to land one on the floor

day 1782 – vanishes

being exposed is the first step, learning is the second step and practicing is the next. learning about vanishes and working on those tornado kicks, eventually to link some combos together. all these drills further shows me how right dominant i have become; but then again, how often is anyone ambidextrous in tricking? going to classes has been really fun with a welcoming bunch and patient instructors. the next step is having the time and confidence to go to open gyms. what a workout today; i was already sweating as i sit and stretch

day 1766 – trickery

i took a huge step out of my comfort zone and stepped back onto the spring floor for the first time in nearly two years. the plan is to get back into gymnastics and not only pick up where i left off, but to pick up even more things to add to my repertoire. i’m so stoked i got a chance to be spotted to go head over heels on my first day back. it was definitely a not a natural feeling after not having gone head over heels in some time. i wonder how long it’ll take me to get back landing this flip without a spotter. i have a lot i want to learn, so no doubt i’ll be pushing myself

day 960 – long layoff

after a long layoff, i am back to flipping to my heart’s content. i was half expecting not to be able to do anything after my shins suffered from a traumatic incident. there was definitely rust and uncertainty in the back of my mind, but that’s expected. by the end of the session i was able to pull off some decent looking tumbling. it’ll take a bit of time to work my way back but at least there’s no major setback. i am just so happy to be back on the floor working on what needs to be done
