day 2357 – snow day

all day the news was warning everyone to stay off the roads because cars and busses were getting stuck or sliding everywhere. i wasn’t about to risk my safety driving out in the horrid road conditions, especially without winter tires. good thing i got the laptop last week so i had the option to work remotely. i was sad i couldn’t even go to the gym. since the office called it a day at 2pm, i spontaneously ventured out in the snow. here’s me being optimistic runners would suffice; i totally did not expect the snow to be a foot deep and probably should have dressed warmer. i switched the boots and plowed around in the snow

day 2275 – blackout matcha

can’t say i didn’t see the office power outage coming after having the many wind warnings. sure enough the power went out in the afternoon and the big boss sent everyone out early. since flightclub also experienced the blackout, i had a different kind of friday; i hungout at richmond centre, had matcha at tsujiri, hit up the gym for some spontaneous snatches and then went for a dumpling dinner. the long matcha craving was finally met

day 2249 – testers and testees

i never kept track of the number of promotion tests i’ve led, but if i had to make a guess, it would over fifty. done another colour belt tes today before heading out to flightclub. i almost didn’t make it out to open gym because i joined them for an spontaneous dinner. i still ended up going, and worked on some back handsprings drills which i found quite insightful. i stayed until the end of the open gym, i’m going to be super tired tomorrow morning

day 2230 – squatting game

i laid off my clean and squat workout regime ever since i had to prepare for my test, so i thought i’d take whatever i could muster. i started with cleans but it didn’t feel strong with my sore hip flexors felt sore, i decided to cut it short and be spontaneous with the weights. i did back squats for doubles all the way up to one forty five – where i thought i’d stop. spontaneous and curious, i kept going for singles and increased it by 2.5 pounds as i felt okay. had there been a spotter, i would’ve gone for a second rep

day 1446 – rollerblading 

woke up at six to watch federer win his ninth wimbledon title. thought i would do something spontaneous before my hockey game. somewhere at the bottom of my sports closet is my dusty blades my parents got me back when i was in my early years of highschool. wasn’t sure if they still fit, wasn’t sure if they required a tune up, wasn’t sure if i remember how to roller blade, but didn’t think twice before strapping them on

day 928 – valentine’s night

img_20200130_2327314054315174066789205.jpga spontaneous night it was, but sometimes casual outings are what keeps things rolling. sitting back, taking advantage of the leg room and kicking our feet up quite literally. of course, part of the experience is enjoying the company of a late night movie. a zombie related movie wasn’t exactly the kind of movie one would expect to watch on valentine’s day, but a zombie love story turns out to be quite fitting for this day. i liked it and i’m glad it happened

day 549 – improv show

we made a spontaneous decision to attend the massacre tonight but it was a good hangout option that provided plenty of good laughs. sports theatre never fails to cheer me up even on the darkest days. a well deserving way to end a hardworked saturday and januaryas a whole. improv entertainment was the perfect choice because it didn’t involve drinking or eating out which is something i want to avoid for now
