day 2029 – sick day

instead of going into work, i stayed at home all day because i woke up with a headache, sore throat and the feeling that i’m fending off an oncoming cold. after calling in sick at 7am, i managed to sleep until past 1pm. sleeping fourteen hours is a really, really rare occasion since i usually get six or less. i logged a total of less than two thousand steps so my fitbit probably thought i was dying

day 1879 – teaching shifts

two teaching shifts after lots of jamming isn’t ideal. not the best day of teaching at taekwondo having to deal with a number of difficult students. the first hour had a handful of uncooperative students while managing a class of thirty two very beginner class. one kid wouldn’t follow instructions, one wouldn’t stop complaining, and one wouldn’t move and kept crying. i couldn’t attend to at the same time, but i did the best i could out of the gongshow situation. survived the day on two peanut butter toasts and a sore throat

day 1721 – crap load

feeling pretty bad at work and also making bad decisions with food. my headache worsened, throat is dry and scratchy, knee is compensating for the hip, and on top of that i’m on some drugs and steroid drops. there’s a lot of work to be done at the office i can’t afford to miss any time. it’s my month to lead the design meetings and i’m currently heavily relied on so i feel obligated to hold down the fort. i toughed it out until the end but i’m going to crawl into bed before nine thirty and hope i wake up tomorrow morning good enough to work

day 1719 – golden ducks

i’d be the first to say i didn’t play a good game yesterday. i think overworking the past few days has gotten my whole body into a funk. at least there’s proof i did do something useful on the ice, leading the attack into sharks territory. my blades need some sharpening before i play next game, and hope i make up for the lack of effort with tomorrow’s game in squirtle debut

day 1369 – playoff sub

was originally going into tuesday playoffs to do exec duties, but ended up subbing in tier 3. we got far into the playoffs, but disappointed with the third place finish. nonetheless there’s a lot to take away from this playoffs. i was really pleased with my play as i was on my game. never have i made so many catches and three of them ended up to be clutch game winning catches. i hope to carry the momentum forward towards next week’s gstrings playoffs. my throat is really sore from reffing countless games

day 1337 – raspy

img_20200204_1608533380692050119664002.jpgpopping advils and drinking honey lemon water to fight off headache, sinus and raspy throat. i can’t let my immune system fail me now; i need to take care of others instead of being taken care of. going into the office today was hard as hell; i couldn’t concentrate on my tasks as my mind was far, far away. i kept telling myself i must chug on until i can no longer

day 1212 – new quilt

img_20200204_2141483544624172087794064.jpgi finally found my other blanket now that my body has succumbed to some sort of virus. hoping that by burying myself in this blanket and sleeping more today, i will be okay to do my black friday shopping in the morning. i woke up mid day not feeling any less crappy, but still hopeful that a miracle will happen overnight. despite feeling unwell and did nothing today, i received some good news and hope more is on its way

day 1193 – skittles night

img_20200204_2141568564227983001006900.jpgrdl execs hard at work getting ready for project skittles pubnight. rdl is still young and growing, but this is the biggest pubnight yet. yelling over drunk and sober rowdy people all night long isn’t recommended; i got home and realized my throat is dry and scratchy. regardless, it was a fun night just getting together with the league and getting to know people that i have seen but never really met. even won a bottle of barbecue sauce to take home with me. i’m disappointed that the priorities wasn’t there, but sometimes it’s better to find out than to never realize where you stand

day 1103 – know no japanese

IMG-20170729-WA0006my headache has improved as the days pass by, but all those hours of teaching and coaching caused a lot of havoc for my throat. my mom gave me some medication she bought in japan, ones that only provided instructions in japanese. it doesn’t help that i am japanese illiterate. little did i know how to take them; i just assumed they were to be ingested in some form which is exactly what i did

day 1100 – nap time

napping usually makes me feel worse, that’s why i rarely take them. but on this day i attempted one because i couldn’t stay awake even with a coffee. a nap with my lifelong stuffy that was suppose to be half an hour turned out to be two hours; i even slept through dinner time. woke up feeling hungry and ate everything my mom had left me. was hoping when i wake up my headache and sore throat would miracoualy go away, but it didn’t
