the road conditions are still pretty bad, but work responsibilities must go on after a snow day. continuing to drive my mom’s car since monday’s snow fall. the rav4 is ways better than my beemer in the snow, but it’s still skidding on the side streets. i just want the snow to stop so i can resume driving my own car and not feel bad for impeding on my mom’s work plans. though i don’t feel bad because my entire family has permission to work from home except
snow boots all around after hours of flurries. the flurries of snow fall was continuous throughout the day and got heavy at certain points. i risked it and drove to work with my shadow, but got very anxious as the snow fall got heavier and i see my car covered in six inches of white powder. like many others, i left work early, but not early enough to avoid the congested road. it took over 75 minutes of slipping and sliding before i got home, but thankfully got home safely
the cold vancouver winter is quite frightful and unpleasant for my shadow. the weather forecast has issued a heavy snowfall warning that starts at 6am. i don’t enjoy the snow on city roads because i’m slipping and skidding everywhere. the sight lines up at the mountain is a much better view. it’s making me think back on the warm summer days when i would be outdoor without frozen fingers
the forecast was correct and vancouver indeed got its february snowfall overnight. we were forewarned about the precipitation, but the city did nothing to prepare for this snowfall. there was no signs of salted roads nor trucks shovelling snow. as a result, the road conditions was much worse than it needed to be and more car accidents than there should have been. my hour drive home from richmond back to vancouver was full of skidding
good to have a sunny december sunday, although i hear the snow will start to fall overnight. i can call it a laid back sunday; morning spent cramming away to meet deadlines, afternoon watching and hanging out, finished off with an evening of more cramming. once i get this term over with, i can enjoy my break and christmas season, not to mention catch up on the many episodes i’ve missed
i look outside the window this morning to see vancity managed to have snow sticking to the ground. i am almost surprised it didn’t happen earlier with the temperatures being consistently low, it was only a matter of time. and since my parents were out of town, i had no problem getting around driving with their vehicle. i can’t help but to think that the mountains will have great skiing conditions after last night’s snowfall
sneaking in a stroll in between the rain and sitting upon the rocks on the lookout at the thick clouds that hover over the mountain. weird couple months of extremities for vancity, first suffering from a drought and depleting reservoir, then floods, fallen trees and power outages from rainstorms and even snow on the mountain. is this the year the vancouver is due for a decent ski season??
