day 2204 – pause snatch

it feels weird to be ay apex on thursday instead of tuesday, but it’s better to give my back and neck more time. to be honest, both were still so stiff and tender than i didn’t think i could snatch. week one of tech week working on pause snatch and front squat on the minute style. it felt pleasantly strong and worked up to thirty eight kilogram pause snatch complex. it was a busy day – i had three back to back activities today, all half an hour apart. after olympic lifting session, was softball playoffs round robin and massage appointment. needless to say i didn’t get home to eat dinner until 9:46pm, and at that point i had fourteen minutes left to eat before my window closed

day 2188 – snatch fail

my muscle snatches was in great form from the start of the workout. this is a good sign when the plan was to test for my current max. i made it all the way to two kilograms shy of my personal best before failing two in a row. i put everything into the final snatch and finally redeemed myself. it was then time to test max paused front squat. i easily hit one plate which was surprised me, but stopped at that because of time and volume constraints. i’m still happy walking away today with both the forty kilo snatch and one plate paused front squat

day 2139 – back on the grind

i didn’t waste any time in getting back on the olympic lifting grind. not having snatched or cleaned for three weeks has had much effect on me. my workout consisted of both and i found both to be extra challenging. timing is everything for any olympic lift, every little segment of the lift matters in whether it’ll be a hit or miss. finished it off with some back squats. i didn’t do any heavy lifts today, but i anticipate i’ll be fairly sore after this workout

day 2098 – shaky

i’m not going to lie. i feeling pretty depleted after today’s workout session. for the first time at apex, i failed to hit my pre-programmed weights. i missed a number of snatches and fell short of the weight i was suppose to lift for both my snatches and front squats. i’m not going to lie, i saw the weights set in my program and immediately felt intimidated. of the missed snatches, i didn’t give the effort to fight for the hold. though i was three pounds short of my one forty five squats, i’m still pretty excited to have a small increase from last week

day 2084 – green plate snatch

one of my initial goal when i first started lifting at apex was to fix my snatch, and to eventually snatch the green plates. i’m so happy to have finally achieved that goal today. each time i’m at apex, i’ve been making progress and breaking my personal record from the previous session. even i cannot believe i’ve worked my way up to a one hundred and forty front squat. i’m sure as long as i keep working hard and tightening my techniques, i’ll shatter more personal records one after another. now i’m beginning to wonder if snatching the yellows is an achievable goal

day 2067 – clean numbers

determined to test some numbers to close off march, i hit the gym first thing in the morning to do my full cleans and back squat. i cut straight to the chase to yellow plates after quick warm ups with red plates, grey plates and green plates. i got a little carried away and decided to snatch, only to realize i ran out of time for back squats. the numbers i hit today matches the heaviest i’ve ever cleaned and snatched, but with improved ease and technique. i feel the one plate mark is within reach

day 2063 – front loading

front squats triples with this weight came with a pleasant surprise. my front squats have improved quite a bit since i first started re-learning my olympic lifts with apex. the first workout on this program, i had a front squat of ninety nine and now i’m at one thirty. i can only afford to olympic lift once a week, so results will be a little slower. good to know that the goal of chasing the one plate club is not far away
