day 2157 – civil appearance

after three weeks of vacation, and two weeks of bailing due to unforeseen circumstances, i’m making my appearance back at civil war. i was worried i wouldn’t remember how to gear up or how to skate. to be honest, my legs were gassed halfway through the ice time. living proof that there are some things you don’t forget once you learn, but there are things that will feel slow and be out of shape after a while. i understand why people could puke first day back after some time. it’s a good feeling to be back on the ice, i’m sure my legs will have some affect tomorrow

day 1848 – open ice

taking advantage of the open ice available since both my spring season of jabba and civil war season came to an end. the radar gun was also on hand so i took a few shots and peeled off once i cracked the sixty mark. i tried a few slapshots but it didn’t feel good enough to continue. the smartest thing to do is to practice my edges so not to over exert my shoulder. also put in some time to work on some weak side forward edge and backward crossovers

day 1247 – robson square

i can describe robson square outdoor ice rink as a massive crowd of people that falls into two categories: those who can’t skate or skates well but causes havoc. the ice condition was horrible by the time we arrived, good thing we brought our own skates because rentals would not be worth it. i wonder when the zamboni gets a chance to pave the ice. we had a short skate before heading out to check out the new sportchek across the street

day 1145 – sunday split shift

started like any other sunday morning teaching taekwondo, met up for some skating practice, then did my coaching and training while he went to the gym. we soon reconvened for dinner to enjoy our sashimi and cold ramen before finishing our laid back evening. we make the most out of our split shifts. it was a pleasant day doing things we enjoy doing. my legs and glutes are going to hurt from having so much training in the past days and definitely lacking massage and rolling

day 956 – skating

my lifestyle is best suited for crazy packed days, that’s just the way i like it. a fun sunday afternoon skate between several hours of teaching and couple hours of poomsae training to make my day complete. no better way to spend my first day back after reactivating my leg, than to go out all with leg intensive activities. i can feel my legs have gotten weaker through the stretch of interrupted physical life. it doesn’t help being sluggish after a pubnight and losing an hour from daylight savings
