day 2267 – brief scare

taking that puck off my arm in last night’s game was a heart stopper for sure. my mind flashed back to so many things that happened during the time i broke my thumb. it narrowly missed my wrist bone; had it hit, i can’t imagine what the outcome could’ve been. i had at looked at by my physio friend and thankful i didn’t have to go to the hospital. i admit i play aggressive, but i swear i’m not careless

day 1972 – stick and pucking

winter break and off days are the best time to sleep in and catch up on what i’ve lacked all year round. it’s also a good time to put in some extra practice at the stick and puck sessions i wouldn’t otherwise have been able to make. getting a free pass to christmas eve afternoon stick and puck session to work on some shots, pivots and stick handling sounded like a good choice

day 1921 – sizeable puck

i put myself in front of the shot to a squirtle game and it so happens to hit the only unpadded area on my leg. my whole leg went numb and i struggled to get back to the bench. good thing there’s meat on my thigh to absorb the impact of the puck. playing defense is fun, but this is one of the sacrifice to play the position. this bruise looks kind of scary and is here to stay for a while

day 1641 – party cabin

after a pretty intense first night at the party cabin, the second day at baker was laid back one. woke up to have brunch, did grocery shopping, picked up parcels, sat in the hot tub and chilled around the cabin. the dinner of the century cook-off turned out with great success. the shot that we had while cooking hit me pretty hard since i hadn’t eaten since breakfast. my cabin baked salmon, stuffed mushrooms and mixed a fruit kale salad. my favourite by far was the salmon seaweed tartar with our baked salmon coming in second. it was only tame before the party started up again after dinner. i’m pooped and slightly buzzed after the party and couldn’t wait to pass out in my bunk while the drink fest started rounding up at 4am

day 1473 – game development

a steady development in my game lately as a result of playing with the higher tiers, receiving pointers, and just getting more ice time. a good day of hockey for me that started off well in britannia, but drop in is where it clicked; even with my aching body and tired legs, i felt strong on my skates. i thought i played a solid game gaining more confidence on the ice whether carrying the puck, driving to the net and playing good positioning. it’s nice when the opposing players compliment on your game, especially the goalie on my shot. it makes me smile a little he said i have a dangerous shot cause both speed and accuracy is there. i hate it when opposing guys take my lightly just because i’m a girl, but the fact they check me harder is a sign of gaining respect

day 1382 – off the post

dropped off my family for their flight to hong kong first thing, coached a morning of poomsae competition, and taught my usual taekwondo. ten hours without break before heading to my drop in game. playing drop in really cautiously so not to reaggravate my poor back and neck. surprisingly had a solid game on both ends of the ice with scoring chances, reading passes, and making back checks. i came really close but the goalie robbed me of a nice one timer. later, i had the goalie beat twice but only to have the post deny me both times. i will figure out way to find the back of the net again but overall happy with how my back responded – not worse than before the game

day 605 – glow with it

image

started the day with 8am taekwondo training and ended the day with 1:30am vdl pubnight. had a great time chatting it up, mingling with people, dancing to the beats and of course a little drinking. yelling over the loud music for several hours has taken its toll on my throat. crazy night it was at pubnight having shot after shot but had a blast partying it up. at the end of the night, i stumbled out feeling a bit smashed, i am sure photos will be my evidence of took place tonight
