day 2256 – open gyming

open gym sundays because i can afford to stay up late since i don’t have work the next day. i did some back tuck maintenance work before drilling some back handsprings and websters. when the back handsprings started falling apart, i switched over to finish the session with pop360 and kip ups. a quieter night at open gym just the way i like it. i like that there’s a lot of open space to work with

day 2247 – kip up

i was forced to re-train aerials because my ankle was feeling wonky after a landing. big surprise came as my long lost aerial, that wasn’t even close to landing for weeks, felt super solid on blue mat today. the bonus of the session came at the end when thought i’d get a few reps of kip ups in to close the night. somehow it just started to click today; i fluked the first one and fluked another half a dozen. i’m reminded that sometimes reward comes simply from being stubborn and persistent about training and getting reps in. i’m hoping that’s the case for some of the other moves i’m chasing

day 2181 – pause squats

working those pause squats up to triples of 125 this week. pleasantly surprised myself, and my coach, that he suddenly decided to add a fourth set. the tech work and muscle snatches are really forcing me to get under quicker with my lock out and the pause at the bottom is helping me secure the catch better. i felt so strong and focused on all my lifts with no dropped snatches. the bonus is surpassing the pre-planned weight by a kilogram. i was so hyped after the session, i felt like i could continue to lift some more

day 1794 – flasherback

emerging leader meeting got me well on my way to a long weekend; a weekend i’ll actually have. i’m feeling really burnt out lately so this is a timely and much needed string of days off. while i have time to sit down, i flashed back to when i was in the best shape of my life before it all went down the drain all due to a broken thumb. it then became one of the toughest moments of my life because of all that happened and all that couldn’t happen. that’s all behind me because i learn and i grow. i think now i’m ready to train for what got me to the shape i wanted. i have my eyes set on being the fittest, healthiest and strongest i could ever be

day 1770 – bootcamp


the office bootcamp is underway and the first session the pace was too slow. i guess the trainer wanted to see where the general fitness was at since we have quite a mixed bag. everything was pretty standard body weight exercise; too much jumping jacks for one day. although it was slow, i did break a sweat simply because it was quite warm being under the sun. i wanted to go to gym afterwards but thought about it twice since i had penta in the evening. i hope the pace and intensity of these bootcamp picks up in the next eleven weeks. hopefully this kickstarts and stabilizes my own fitness routine again

day 1676 – good to great


trying to kickstart a good march with a quote on my whiteboard. sitting down with the boss for a swot session made me think really hard about my strengths and how i can make them from good to great. leaving the room with a new way of thinking through things and how i can grow as a human being in the work force. i can only imagine the series of coaching sessions will be a good place to boost my career growth. there’s a lot of brainstorming and homework to be done 

day 1591 Рomega 

craved sushi and that’s exactly what i got tonight. it’s my go to eats that i can never get sick of and vancouver has good supply. as usual, i skip the fillers and go straight for the sashimi, a party size sashimi to share. loaded up on omega after a good session but also loaded up the bill. wouldn’t be able to do that too often but my tummy left satiated and satisfied. also feeling pretty good that the push aspect is still there, and working up on the pull
