day 2528 – term two

round two of taekwondo classes started today and everything went smoothly. there’s more students returning this term so i’ve divided the group to have two small classes simultaneously. i wasn’t as tired or hungry as past weeks by the end of the shift; maybe having an assistant helped a bit. i also had a physio friend needle me in the quad during my short break which is a bonus

day 2506 – normal lifts

it’s been a while since i could string together complete snatches and clean and jerks that i feel good about. at times i had the pull but not the receiving position, other times i had the jerk but not the clean. today i seemed to have it together better than the past few sessions even though i really lacked the sleep and energy. snatch drills went up to the green plates and pause clean and jerks felt comfortable at fifty kilograms

day 2192 – master class

made a request to attend master class today because i didn’t really train yesterday. i had never been to a master class and wasn’t sure if i was allowed to. thankfully many students are out of town so it was almost like private lesson. i worked on a lot of progression drills towards flash kick. i made progress, but i just can’t seem to break the tucking habit. i need to work harder on this trick because it just doesn’t feel natural to stay open. also had some self practice time to work on some cart twist and i think i’m catching on the timing

day 1994 – apex the gym

for my first semi private session, i revisited everything that i did from my first session, checked on front squats, then jumped into some power cleans. since it looked fairly good after a few minor adjustments, i got the green light to go heavier. made it all the way from the fake whites to the yellow plates. the coach was very happy with the progress given the amount of time and instruction i had today. my first official olympic lifting session since my days with jae and i had forgotten how much fun this stuff is; the only type of cleaning i like to do
