day 2474 – diy squat rack

did the runs but skipped the lifting portion and made it a squat rack building day. the whole process was smooth sailing and we only had two minor hiccups. both sides of the vertical posts turned out perfectly leveled and almost identical so it should be very fun here on. the whole construction took less than two hours, but we stuck around to monitor the water level in the drying concrete

day 2453 – griffins grass

we’ve been running on griffins grass for three weeks strong, but it may be the last time we’ll be on this field. vancouver school board has closed off all grass fields across the city in order to protect the condition. we’ll have to find a public park as a replacement to continue our running routine. running here has given me some sentimental values because it gives me a reason to be back on home soil

day 2441 – patio lounging

finished the cardio training early so i could have the rest of the day. i had to sacrifice the sprint for a ten lap jog because my shin was bothering me. the run was followed by a hundred wall kicks and some bonus pushups. it was such a nice day out so i ate my lunch out on the patio lounge chair. it was the perfect excuse to lounge around, soak in some vitamin d and sun tan while watching my latest drama episode

day 2434 – interval sprints

doing sprints must be one of the biggest april fools joke i’ve ever agreed to because running has always been something i dreaded. i must admit i regretted it the moment i agreed to this plan, but i’m glad i did it with a crew that pushes me and keeps me accountable. these are some of the trainings i need to get my fitness back up and help with my nonexistent cardio. i’m committed to keep training extra hard so i can take my game up a notch and be ready to take it to the next level once this quarantine is over

day 2425 – attempted run

woke up with a plan to get some fresh air and do a morning run, but it didn’t go as planned. it was raining when i woke up, but once the sky cleared up, i walked to van tech field with an intent. i could barely get through two laps around the oval before i called it quits. goes to show how out of shape i am and how much work i’m going to have to put into this cut. will go back to the drawing board and try again soon

day 2332 – cardio sucks

cardio sucks but i’ve committed to doing cardio for twelve straight days for at least one kilometre. i told myself there’s no excuse; even if it’s olympic lifting day or leg day. it’s day one and i forced myself on the treadmill at the end of the workout after squats and jerk balance drills. even with just one kilometre, i was utterly bored and gassed. somehow i’ll have to survive another eleven days

day 620 – cardio mode

image

after having early morning saturday, my mind and body wasn’t up for more 8am exercise on sunday. somehow i still found a way to get my sorry butt on the treadmill this evening. the vancouver sunrun is exactly a week away, so if not now, then when?? i guess after tonights run, it’s time to taper off and rest up by so i don’t over exert myself before the actual run

day 589 – burrard street

image

looking skyward up towards the open sky and i can’t possibly miss the banners that hang on the lamp post. seeing that banner really hits me that there’s only a month remaining until the dreaded vancouver sun run. i can’t help but feel unprepared knowing there’s so much to do in so little time. must plug in those headphones, pick up the slack and run the hell out before it’s too late to feel guilty
