day 2081 – triad jerseys

my linemates looking sharp in our new triad jersey and posing with them after game before the zamboni rushed us off the ice. i wasn’t so keen on having the light jerseys for civil war again, but they turned out nicer than the other team’s. my line didn’t score tonight and it’s my fault because i was robbed point blank. i really wasn’t having my night and had an earful after the game. i was told to play harder instead of playing down to my opponents’ level

day 1819 – basement rink

north shore winter club has one of the worst ice surface i’ve ever seen. it clearly never took hockey players into consideration when players have to lug giant hockey bags through sets of doors, up and down flights of stairs and across other change rooms. stomping down the stairs in full gear to get to the rink, only to see ice is actually a large pool of water. i left it all out there playing one of my stronger games to end the jdp regular season. i had a close call early on that looked like it crossed the goal line. had another opportunity on a two on one where i dove to get good wood on it. despite not scoring, i did many good things including passing, puck battles, forechecks, and just being in position

day 1675 – mummified thumb

the thumb sprain wasn’t going to stop me two straight days. it’s still troubling, but showing up to dodgeball with a mummified thumb is what i had to do. playing in tier 2 has its difficulties, understanding the rules and playing with honesty are two big ones. even for a team who won back to back sportmans award, playing against cheaters boiled our tempers and unraveled when certain players are blatantly cheating. it was not a fun night when we had to point out individuals who are repeated offenders
