day 2530 – regular squats

steady progress of my injured knee continues in my garage. i’m excited to be off the box squats and onto regular squats. taking the advice and making adjustments to my stance the past few sessions to make it more sustainable to taking on heavier weights in the long run. the knee itself felt pretty good, but the groin was a different issue. good enough to do four sets with a plate on the bar. had a special guest join us for today’s session; i must say he was quite the entertainment. he did however make it difficult, so some of the workout got cut short

day 2513 – national sushi day

the letdown was real when i had to skip my apex session and tricking class because my knee is in terribly rough shape. the only salvaging factor was my friends coming over for a garage lifting session. wasn’t expecting to do a whole lot without my legs under me, but turns out i untapped new territory benching ninety pounds for five reps without relying on my spot. the sushi for lunch afterwards made me feel a little better even though nothing will really make up for what i have to sacrifice

day 2501 – ankle breakdowns

very concerning my ankle just randomly decided to breakdown during open gym. my training session started off strong even though my energy level was low. my flash kicks felt the best it’s very been on blue. after a dozen reps, the pressure in my ankle was so much i couldn’t really weight bear anymore. the rest of the session was a drag because i couldn’t do anything and except maybe handstands. i guess the beginning was just a false sense of energy

day 2483 – deadlift surprises

if you asked me three weeks ago when i started doing deadlifts after a couple years, i would not have expected to pull much over one plate. i was just trying to get my deadlift technique back, and was hovering around the one hundred twenty five mark. ever since i picked up the extra plate, we’ve been lifting much heavier. definitely felt super good after pulling one ninety five for three reps, which is thirty pounds shy of my all time personal record. i’m hoping i can match my two plate personal best before quarantine ends

day 2459 – combo-ing

getting back into some combo work because it was about time to test out my knee on some aerials. worked on two different combos and was surprised i was able to get them out. i’m going be more strategic about practicing combo variations. really grateful that the coach stayed extra late getting me to drill the touchdown raiz. he pushed me and drilled me hard and i was exhausted, but it’s necessary and i find i need the pressure. if not for that, i would take way too long overthinking everything

day 2257 – monday off

compressed work week saving me by letting me sleep in like no other. also blessed to have the day off to take my mom out for birthday lunch. basically woke up at 11am, then met up with my parents near both their offices to enjoy some beef noodles. stopped by the gym to stretch, roll and use the sauna before heading out to flightclub. had a lot of fun after hours training, getting more back handspring reps in. hopefully all these reps will pay off sooner rather than later. i opted not to join the crew for dinner because i had some cake errands to run before the stores closed

day 2057 – front squats

img_20200203_1415445290481048951972795.jpgbeen concentrating on going heavy with front squats for the past several weeks and progress is there. i really wanted to build the strength back up; started barely cracking the century mark to now being able to hit one twenty five for working sets. i’m not far off from one plate front squats and think hitting it before my birthday is totally doable. i feel the power exercises has translated well with my explosiveness. i just feel like i tend to hold back sometimes because i want to ensure i can control them properly

day 1913 – headway

feeling pleased with my back tuck and the progress i made this week. the motions seem smoother, the landing feels more comfortable and the flip as a whole feels stronger and tighter. it also helps i’ve been able to workout more like how i used to, getting some of my plyo movements closer to where they used to be. i feel like i just need that extra push to make the breakthrough i’ve longed. besides the back tuck, the webster and cartwheel also feels a lot better through the drills and extra reps
