day 1662 – chinese new year celly

the year of the dog starts off with more food celebrations; chinese new year celebration at the office, then with family. stayed up late to make long distance calls to my grandparents and relatives in hong kong. it’s good that i hit the gym between the two chinese meals. i guess i’ll run and workout a little harder to work the food overload. and at the end of the day, i have a few red pockets to take home with me

day 1279 – dodgeball night

red pockets up for grab at rdl because we wanted to share the joy of chinese new year. i fell to a low point yesterday, but i rebooted and had a good start to the week. it helps as i’m transitioning into a new program. day one felt a lot better and stronger than what i had on paper. i’m proud that i could withstand whatever came at me and i can’t wait to see how far this program will take me

day 1183 – lucky money

got my good luck red pocket money, one from my parents and one from the grandmaster. i’m all packed up for a good weekend in oregon. i’ll be there to scout and chill with my teammates for first two days, then my competition begins on saturday. i’ll also take this time off as a break from everything, relax and enjoy the moment. it was difficult trying to fit all my stuff into one duffel and backpack. now time for a red-eye drive down to portland

day 573 – red pockets

i didn’t get a whole lot of red pockets for chinese new year as usual and if i were in hong kong it would be totally different story. every year i miss out on all the red pockets from grandparents and relatives overseas, but i can’t be bothered too much, i’ll take it as it’s given. it’s who remembers to give it to me that counts. be grateful because there are many people who don’t receive any

day 184 – happy chinese new year!!

receiving red pocket is pretty standard. making phone calls back to hong kong and regurgitating dozens chinese proverbs is pretty standard. but it never gets old just seeing their faces or hearing their voices on chinese new year. chinese new year is not about receiving the money inside red pockets, it’s about cherishing each and every special moment spent with the ones you love and can’t live without. embracing the year of the horse, i look forward to everything you have in store for me
