speeding through the crowds of quarry rock to finish the entire route in fifty nine minutes. this is by far the fastest timed quarry rock i’ve ever done. it was relatively cool the whole hike up and it wasn’t until we were heading down for lunch when the sun started to peek out. although the original plan was to do st mark’s summit, we noticed the conditions appear unsafe. like most of the people we saw, we turned back and i’m glad we did. it wouldn’t have been wise to hike on ice with regular runners while people with proper hiking boots and poles were turning around
bringing mo to quarry rock for the first hike of this season. it started off being chilly, but the stairs warmed us up soon enough. neither of us are cardio people; we were tired from the beginning but we couldn’t stop because that would make us look bad. we sped through the trail and finished the round trip in slightly over an hour. looking forward to going on more hikes this summer. oh, did i mention happy two months?
wouldn’t have been a fulfilling long weekend if i didn’t get to go out and enjoy the sunshine we’ve been blessed with. got the first hike of this summer out of the way. it’s a fairly short hike and rated one of the easier trails of vancouver so it’s definitely a good place to start. the roundtrip there and back was completed in under one and a half hour, in addition to the time spent taking photos and enjoying the scenery. the view at the peak is beautiful overlooking north vancouver. kayaked at this location a number of times but never have i gotten the view of deep cove from up top. hoping i would be able to go on a longer one with even greater rewards. good thing its just the beginning of august and there’s a whole month left before summer season starts to wrap up
had bigger hikes in mind for this august long weekend, but my ankle didn’t give me a chance. probably shouldn’t have done this strenuous activity to begin with but forced it to happen and still in one piece all thanks to the tape job that held my ankle together. would have been devastated if i couldn’t at least go on a hike this long weekend, even if it meant quarry rock. it was a good hike nonetheless and the view up top was so relaxing at the same time rewarding. hoping i can do the hike i wanted to before summer’s end
