day 2222 – fourth bound

after a full day at the dojo, i walked away with a fourth dan certificate. though i was satisfied with most, i was unhappy about one thing. i was bitter my x-out didn’t get the three attempts that all breakings get because he was worried i’d hurt myself. if held firmly, i was confident in breaking it. i’m still pretty proud i went for it considering the roller coaster i had been on the past few weeks. it was a good attempt and maybe the best attempt i had with boards. i’ll keep practicing and do it better one of these days for redemption. i’m just relieved this is all over. my beaten body full of gashes and bruises deserves the break after two long days at the dojo and of course all the work i’ve put into my x-out. definitely a smart decision to take tuesday as a flex day

day 2145 – department change

going to work on monday morning with mixed emotions because the switch in position and department is considered a promotion. the fact i’m removed from the department i’ve grown with leaves a sour feeling. also having work with someone i need time and space from is rather uncomfortable. still, work must go on and i’ll be professional about it and keep the interaction at a business level. at the end of the day i just need to get my stuff done

day 1403 – new twig


wanted a new twig a while back but waited it out until the right deal came along. the dimpled grip stick feels great and my black and red colour scheme makes it even better. to top it off, the guys in the locker room decided i earned a promotion to second line while there’s vacancy. i got my fair share of chances and one timers through, but it would’ve been nice if i put the puck in the net instead of another post. i had a lot more fun playing on the second line tonight because it’s more positional and strategic

day 896 – kickboxing

always wanted to try kickboxing so i gave it a shot. it was fun and pretty much what i expected –  a cardio workout. the class was structured in several phases, but they pride on not stopping at any one of them and surprisingly i didn’t need to. i could really benefit from working up a sweat and use that as distraction from everything that’s been happening lately. i received constant feedback and comments, many of which mentioned i had a good roundhouse kick. why thank you, i guess my roundhouse kick is not too shabby
