day 2225 – clean and jerk

coach changed my program up and is getting me to relearn my clean and jerk. this is considered leveling up because he thinks i have a chance of going to competition in the near future. i think i’m up for the challenge and would like a shot at a weightlifting competition. first day on the clear and jerk program is light and easy one. it’s also considered a deload week with lighter snatches and light clean and jerks

day 2169 – nash cleans

i haven’t stepped into a steve nash for a long time because of so many things: busy schedule, membership issues, vacation, injuries, fatigue and general laziness. the slacking at nash must end and i was determined to crush the workout the moment i walked in. did my usual thursday lifts in order from cleans, backs squats, bench press and rows. being off this workout for some time, i stayed with some conservative weights but definitely should up it next time

day 2105 – one rep max

for the past several weeks, my workouts at apex have been strategically programmed to make strength gains. i’m excited that it is finally time to test out my one rep max. my snatches felt strong leading up the heaviest i’ve ever lifted over my head. though i had a rocky bottom catching position, i managed to save it and hit a pr in both snatches and front squats. it took more than one attempt, but i walked away with a forty two kilo snatch and one hundred and fifty pound front squat. i’m extremely happy with the results as that’s a five kilo increase in my snatch. coach told me the yellow plates are within reach, something i’ve always thought i’d never be able to attain

day 2098 – shaky

i’m not going to lie. i feeling pretty depleted after today’s workout session. for the first time at apex, i failed to hit my pre-programmed weights. i missed a number of snatches and fell short of the weight i was suppose to lift for both my snatches and front squats. i’m not going to lie, i saw the weights set in my program and immediately felt intimidated. of the missed snatches, i didn’t give the effort to fight for the hold. though i was three pounds short of my one forty five squats, i’m still pretty excited to have a small increase from last week

day 2077 – loaded front squats

each tuesday at the apex gym, i’ve pushed a heavier weight than the preceding, setting a personal best every single week since i started training here. prior to being on this program, i’ve been stuck within the one hundred mark. i’m really pleased i just hit the one plate mark for front squats. my snatches also felt pretty good and upped my weight to sixty nine. though it’s not the max snatch, they’re done with better technique and increased consistency. let’s keep setting personal best for all my lifts including front squat, back squats, snatches and cleans

day 1743 – repose

i miss the gym, a lot, but i’m going to resist from going to the gym for at least two more days. i need the rest and my body needs to recover after such a crazy but fun-filled birthday week of festivities. when i step back into the gym, i want to be fresh and ready to begin my new program. let me relinquish the feeling of not being sore for forty more odd hours because once the grind starts, maybe i’ll only feel soreness. spent an evening catching up on my news feed and tvb drama

day 1332 – new pumps

the major delay is over as i decided it’s finally time to pull out the new pumps. they felt amazing from the get go and required no breaking in. doing the same program but only everything seemed so much harder after taking a whole month break. it was a battle, but the satisfaction of grinding through the workout and getting my squats done overpowers. i must say i missed those lifts and glad to be cleaning again. hopefully the pumps will spark my comeback and get me back on track
