day 1926 – open flips

hitting up open practice because i want to get the numbers in before i leave for vacation. it’s late for my early work schedule and i know i’ll be tired, but i felt the need to do so. i’m afraid i’ll lose my front tuck and back tuck during the time that i’m out of town and don’t know where to located a flipping facility. my back tucks have been getting way more consistent. feeling more comfortable doing them on my own on blue mat puts a smile on my face

day 1836 – twirls

two weeks of no progress drove me crazy and today i finally see marginal improvement from my last physio appointment. deep down i knew the answer was a no go even think about trying to go flipping. i shouldn’t risk screw up the slightest improvementby by forcing premature attempg. still, i felt like practicing my five forties so found some empty space at the gym and went at it. it’s rusty especially not being able to use my arms properly, but practice is practice

day 1611 – get resourceful 


pouring rain, ailing thumb, not perfect vision and no ice permission isn’t going to stop me from going around to achieve. make do with the resources i have on hand is a skill i’m trying to perfect. used nothing fancy but what’s readily available in my garage to make my setup work for me. who said i couldn’t practice when i’m not yet allowed to have the physical physical activities. i’ll always try to look for loopholes; i’m an infamous bad patient and i know it

day 1248 – stick and puck

going stick and puck because i’m still on holiday with some extra free time. i could use a little more exercise or else i shouldn’t be eating tonight. the rink was so cramped since many others also don’t have work. some of the player’s smelled really bad; i could smell some their gear metres away. wish i can go to another one soon so i can go more ice time in

day 1113 – olympic fever

in the midst of summer olympics happening in rio, i am also getting my share of action – olympic lifts. a little correction and a lot of practice goes a long way. i am slowly but surely getting better and smoother with my clean and jerks. i’m pleased my clean and jerks have improved vastly since i first picked it up, need to work twice as hard on my snatches so it will eventually catch up. a pretty good way to start off hump day before dealing with various pressing issues and projects with deadlines

day 1101 – snatched

pushing it hard at the gym this morning and not letting my cold get to me. after a long session, i came out looking like i was abused but it was all worth it because i was working on a lot and a lot of cleans. despite my throbbing headache, i am stoked since i had just done my first ever barbell snatch. although it is still very raw and still have a lot of mechanics to work on, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. i’ll stay persistent and keep working on it; it’s only a matter of time before it gets better and become second nature

day 692 – all packed up

i feel like i haven’t completely unpacked from portland and now i am packing once again for montreal. packing is hard work but i think with the practice as of late, i am getting better at packing compact. being quite notorious for packing heavy, even i surprise myself how i could fit everything into these two bags. what can i say, practice makes perfect. i double checked and triple checked to make sure i have my necessary medical kit, certainly can’t compete without any of my essentials
