day 1864 – team platters

typical platter choice of the team after a squirtle squad game. there are quite a few alcoholics on the team so pitchers of beer are also staples, along with nachos. it is the official start of delta coed fall season and a win registered for the squirtle is a strong start to the season. we already have more wins than we did for all of delta spring season. i’m sticking to playing the ‘d’ for this team to learn more. of course there’s plays i wish i to redo, but i think i held up in the back end for the most part

day 1720 – wings night

my first full game slotted at defense and it was nerve-wracking but lots of fun. i wasn’t confident with my backward skating and defensive positioning so i was worried i’d let the team down. i trusted that i had decent hockey iq so i was in position most of the time and lucky to have my d-partner when i wasn’t. i must admit it was quite fun to play on the back end; i wouldn’t mind playing there once in a while just to get a different perspective of the game and learn something new. the squad went crazy after the game and ordered platters of eighty wings and nachos

day 1633 – planet ice me

friday night menu consisted of hockey and wings. started my first ever game as a defense which is something i’ll have to do more of. it seemed a little daunting at first but better after nervousness dissipated. the game at the blueline was pretty exhilarating because the game in action is seen in another light. it’s good opportunity to improve my two way game and prepare myself for what’s to come in the spring. made a few good outlets passes, back checks and just taking the stick. i realize i’m quite the gambler at the back end, perhaps i’m still figuring out positioning and angles. i’ll get a chance to work on those kinks through the course of the spring season
