day 2417 – webster night

stayed for open gym after the killarney session. in the final half hour of open gym, i worked a lot on my failing websters. i received tips and pointers and eventually found something that seemed to work for me. i did a bunch at the end to make sure i wouldn’t forget the tips and tweaks that made it work for me. it seems to be heading in the right direction and i’m told it’s close with the better landings on blue mat. i wonder when it’d be time to land one on floor, i don’t have much more patience left working on this

day 2208 – x-out tease

little feedback received on my touch down raiz and gainer to even work with or progress into anything because all the commotion was to push selected few to do corks. disappointed i didn’t get to try any spotted, but it is what it is. threw some butterfly twists onto red mat but not much done. so i decided to work on x-out on my own and made much progress before the coach finished with his private lesson and started giving me pointers. by the end, it felt good with the tweaks he suggested. i sense it’s close to getting some target attempts

day 2061 – goaltending

img_20200124_1211065295276396681006920.jpgone of the things i’ve always wanted to try growing up was to play goalie on ice. i got that chance today during squirtle open ice. playing in net was fun, but i didn’t enjoy putting on twenty extra pounds of gear. i imagine i’d be a hasek type goalie who sprawls into full out stretches, but a bad groin didn’t allow me to go down into butterfly all that much. i had a really good catching side that carried over from softball, but the blocker side was rather uncoordinated. i was drenched in sweat by the time our session ended

day 1909 – webbing drills

stayed well after class to practice because i want my websters. it was the perfect time to drill them because i was able to receive some valuable pointers. i was drilling and drilling them into the foam pit; long enough past dinner and in time for late night matsuyama with the gang. i keep wanting to hit the open gym times, but it’s always difficult on weekdays with my early morning starts
