day 1911 – dodgeball night

humpdays after work, as usual, consists of flipping and kicking, then rushing off to dodge some balls with our balls your face. the first weeks of the season has been focusing on the team chemistry since there’s new faces on the team. we’ll get through the kinks in the meat of the season and get it playoff ready. part of the fun of vdl isn’t so much about dodgeball balls, but seeing the familiar faces

day 1779 – baseball tees

team picture time when everyone is upgraded from worn out cotton tees to sporting new baseball drifit. it would have been perfect if most of us ordered one size down; nonetheless, we all look like better ballplayers despite our record. squint field must be the least bug friendly field we play at; i feel like the bugs realize that i’m wearing expired off bug spray. it was a close game until the end when we lost it in open inning. i’m quite disappointed with my last inning at bat when i was pressing too hard to pull it down left field line

day 1748 Рfoul territory

img_20200130_2141412649232542651769604.jpgi was five feet away from possibly hitting my first ever home run. i had never struck the ball so hard in my softball days and if it only shifted five or so feet to the right, it would have landed in fair territory well over the left fielder. we played a high tiered team today and got creamed but we’ll be back on the field for more softball come thursday. it was a scorching day with sweat down my back even when standing on the field. on my drive home, my car registered thirty degrees celsius

day 1744 – espr dub

first regular game of the season for espr and we got our first win. the team put together a great six strong innings and already tied last year in the win column. i played an all around game with defensive plays at first base and getting base hits with solid hits. i did, however, make an early season error that i’m not very happy about. i was totally robbed of a base hit on what i thought was the hardest i’ve ever struck a softball, but the left fielder dove for it. everyone stayed after the game and put some work into fielding

day 1109 – diamond two

VID-20180530-WA0018_9542the warmup for my softball playoff game was walking across the beautiful but neverending mowed grass. it was so hot under direct sunlight, but some would say it’s perfect weather to play ball. i started the season batting ninth, kept moving up as the games went on and today found myself third in the batting order. the season didn’t end in glorified fashion, but it was the team effort that counted. i played hard even when we were trailing, striking the ball three solid times along with a walk.¬†i guess an 8am game has a lot to do with how sleepy i am. i’ll pass out early and get my stuff done tomorrow morning instead

day 1105 – night ball

img_20200124_0932442298008062861280033.jpgit was more of a rest day for me with the exception of a softball game on back to back nights. the whole team played a good game and got the win. i had a good game with base hits, runs batted in and some defensive plays. closing the regular season on a high note and ready for playoffs. but the high ended as i later found out mo’s grandma had an accidental fall. i hope she’s okay but still waiting for updates
