day 1199 – coaching team

the two grandmasters and the coaching team at yet another grandmaster yoon sport poomsae seminar. it’s great opportunity to pick his brain from his wealth of knowledge; no wonder he’s one of the best coach in california state. a good poomsae refresher for me but a bad headache kept my home in the evening, probably from dehydration or something. i feel fatigued and much discomfort so all i can do is lie down and roll out on my pvc

day 892 – new nemesis

i knew the day would come when i would outgrow my pipe and needed to find a harder alternative. for as much as i use my rollers, my body has developed enough immunity to the pipe it no longer serves me justice. i have passed the stages of foam, firm foam, even firmer foam, ridged foam, plastic and pipe in sequential order; let’s get straight to the point and go for metal. found a new effective tool to roll out my frequently overused legs and get it to a functional state

day 688 – ultra sore

i was right about my legs feeling like they were hit by a truck. totally expected it to feel this way after yesterday’s visit. every part of my legs were sore to the bone and many times when i felt like my legs would give in. sitting, walking and all the most basic movements were all so difficult and painful. even when i wasn’t moving, i could feel the muscles pulling in every possible way. the world must have stopped spinning because i managed to climb into bed before midnight

day 661 – tape up

spent a good chunk of my saturday night watching playoff basketball, taping myself, rolling out and massaging my ailing groin. i am all taped up in a lot of places i feel like a mummy on a certain level, but i am feeling pumped and ready for action. tomorrow will be a big day for me, it is finally my turn to take my promotion test for a third stripe. just the grandmaster, all my senior instructors, a couple tens of students watching and my pride on the line, no pressure. now i would appreciate very much it if i am able to fall asleep with this stomachache that was also costing me sleep time the night before

day 598 – constantly rolling

it has been two weeks since my groin strain and there’s still so much restriction and off limit activities. i was told i am only allowed to do gentle stretches and even then sometimes it still doesn’t want to cooperate. no doubt any kicking and stretches not deemed mild are off limits and must refrain from doing them for the greater good. i need this to heal sooner rather than later because it kills me to be inactive

day 582 – suit up

i am still feeling the soreness of after effects of exercises earlier this week. resting my overused muscles and taking it as easy as i could with lots of stretching and pipe rolling. i can’t really do much with a sore posterior so let’s hope tomorrow’s lone practice will do wonders and get me ready for provincials. in the meantime. i am trying on my poomsae uniform and still debating if i want to pull it out for this weekend

day 568 – sheep year’s first

imageit’s a good start to my sheep year when i can go to the gym on the very first day. my poor legs and glutes are still sore but if i can walk, i make no exceptions. felt like today was an important one for me just to get myself going again and i do feel like i have turned the corner somewhat. i want to make sure i gear down and do it right because there’s really little time and little room for error. let’s make the year of the sheep a good one
