day 2557 – hurts internally

i was told if my cartwheel looked during warm up, i should try to land it on the floor tonight. it started off really promising, the first cartwheels felt decent and my first attempts on blue also felt decent. as i did a few more warm-ups, they started declining and before i knew it, my chances were basically gone. i went home feeling ever so disappointed because it seems like i’m hovering and getting so close, but i’m missing that little piece to go for it. it’s really upsetting that i was finally given the opportunity but i didn’t take advantage of it. it really hurts inside and i’m scared i don’t have what it takes to get it

day 2543 – charity event

charity open gym fundraiser with live music and photobooth. did most of my training with a mask on and that was very challenging considering how warm it was. it was also a coach’s birthday, one who has become more of family. i really wanted to land one of my new move tonight as tribute, but it didn’t help my ankle was acting up. i feel like both moves are inching closer, but i just haven’t found the piece to get to the finish line

day 2501 – ankle breakdowns

very concerning my ankle just randomly decided to breakdown during open gym. my training session started off strong even though my energy level was low. my flash kicks felt the best it’s very been on blue. after a dozen reps, the pressure in my ankle was so much i couldn’t really weight bear anymore. the rest of the session was a drag because i couldn’t do anything and except maybe handstands. i guess the beginning was just a false sense of energy

day 2498 – open gym flash

still going strong attending classes and hitting up open gyms. i’ve learned that adopting to train everyday, but train at seventy percent may be better than going ham every other day. despite doms hitting hard after a heavy squat day the day before, i had a pretty strong session. i wasn’t expecting to do any power moves, but i was in for a surprised with both my flash kick and x-out. i took the x-out to the floor after two warm ups and it looked better than the ones last summer when i drilled them the entire session. my flash kick is starting to click for some reason; i wish i could take it to floor as well but i know i need to be held back to have a better margin of error before i do so. i have no doubt it will come in time

day 2426 – handsprings

after two plus months, i was ready to test out my shoulder with some back handsprings. the first ones were ugly, but it got on track after a couple more tries. i’m very surprised that i hadn’t completely lost it after having to put it aside for months. it’s a feel good training today because everything else also found it’s place. my backside 9 felt as good as ever, my websters had a bit of a breakthrough, combos were smoother and both my front handsprings and back handsprings are in working order again. i plan to have many level ups during this quarantine

day 2417 – webster night

stayed for open gym after the killarney session. in the final half hour of open gym, i worked a lot on my failing websters. i received tips and pointers and eventually found something that seemed to work for me. i did a bunch at the end to make sure i wouldn’t forget the tips and tweaks that made it work for me. it seems to be heading in the right direction and i’m told it’s close with the better landings on blue mat. i wonder when it’d be time to land one on floor, i don’t have much more patience left working on this

day 2375 – dim sum fortune

sunday afternoon dimsum had a surprise appearance from the chinese money man. he came into the restaurant and handed out red pockets to everyone. it was a gesture more than anything because the red pockets only had a candy. after dimsum, i relaxed at home before going to open gym where i finally got a chance to work on cartwheel flash. i hit my head onto the mat multiple times, but i think i needed to know how it feels like

day 2270 – stay home sunday

stayed home originally thinking i’d be lazy, but turns out to be a work afternoon. i finished the much delayed payrolls for terms of killarney because someone complained about class reserve distribution. the email chain started getting out of hand and in turn made me even more agitated. i checked the spreadsheet and all is good to go until he makes other complaints. at least i got off my plate and onto better things

day 2263 – photography walk

caught up with a friend and went outside to enjoy what may be the last sunshine of this year. it was a productive yet adventurous photography walk through olympic village and mount pleasant. we stopped to take pictures of many art structures and murals. a little disappointed we didn’t get any beta5 puffs before they sold out, but earnest is nothing to be disappointed about either. taking advantage of open gym because i can afford to have a late night

day 2256 – open gyming

open gym sundays because i can afford to stay up late since i don’t have work the next day. i did some back tuck maintenance work before drilling some back handsprings and websters. when the back handsprings started falling apart, i switched over to finish the session with pop360 and kip ups. a quieter night at open gym just the way i like it. i like that there’s a lot of open space to work with
