day 1168 – nailed it

i felt good when i tested my back two days ago, so i’m going for more. i said i wanted to be back in the one plate club so i went and got it – without extra pain. i had to scale my activities and exercises down considerably for two months and was shut down from almost everything for the past three weeks, but i think i finally see the light again. i’m stoked to get back into the thick of things, but i’ll still take it step by step. also very pleased that my midterm was extremely well done, although there’s one mark i shouldn’t have lost

day 1125 – readjust

checking in with physio to make the readjustments required so i can function optimally. sneaking a picture in between sets of side plank with disc. the back has progressed each and everyday since wreckage, but nowhere near where it needs to be. then again, very little can stop me from doing what i like doing. since i am off limits, i was able to sit down and get some work and planning done

day 990 – rdl champ

i couldn’t have been more satisfied winning rdl tier 2 champs. every sour catch kid stepped up and played together down the stretch to make this happen. it was a hard earned championship where we had to fight through many tough series and come back from the loser’s bracket. it did come with a cost. i took two shots in the head in a single play – one being a ball that struck me in the collarbone area, the other being a follow through elbow in the back of my head. it was a scary moment because i don’t recall dropping down on the floor like a rock and being unresponsive for a good minute or two. regardless, i just wanted to get up and continue playing because the finals meant the world to me. i can deal with the consequences after it’s all said and done

day 985 – imperishable

it’s true very little can stand between me and my gym, even when my headache and cough is getting progressively worse as the day wears on. was feeling pretty shitty when i walked in, but the gym is a place that ignites me and gives me that boost of energy whenever it’s lacking; it’s my happy place. lots of people don’t agree with my recklessness, but i will do what i set out to do and would rather collapse doing so. i am a tough cookie afterall and i’d hate to skip gym

welcoming 2016

2015 was a good year in the grand scheme of things. through the past year, i have learned a lot about myself and have a better grasp of what i want to attain and where i want to go. i realized my true ambitious self of not wanting to remain at the same level time after time, year after year. there was definitely not as much action as i would like in terms of taekwondo competitions, but sometimes fate and timing has a lot to do with it. continuing to be involved in the dodgeball community not only in vancouver, but expanded my team to richmond. there’s no surprise i remain injury-proned; but the frequency as well as the ability to heal myself has gotten progressively better. i cannot express how blessed i am to have met so many supportive people in my life that always lends a hand or provides motivational words so i can stay on track even when times get tough

here’s to welcoming 2016 with open arms with set goals and big ambitions to take everything to the next level. let’s write the next 365 days and make it a year to remember.

  • stay as injury-free as possible
  • eat clean, sleep earlier, train regularly
  • take on big challenges even if i am scared, that’s the only way to get to the next level
  • be more confident and less self-doubting
  • love myself, my family and my friends just the way we are
  • learn a new sport
  • pick up snowboarding
  • learn to code, write my website
  • complete obstacle courses
  • travel the world

i am ready to take on all these challenges. find my strong. it’s now or never

day 842 – bulk pack

one huge stack almost complete and another stack on its way. i made it a priority to load up because i need my supplements like i need food. i am a little disappointed i didn’t get the flavour of my choice, but i simply didn’t want to wait another week to have it shipped. that being said, there’s a dozen of flavours to choose from so there’s a handful of secondary choices i wouldn’t mind adopting. this got me covered and should last me a while

day 836 – no better feeling

continuing my obligatory blenz matcha remedy after physio appointments because each visit usually entails a long list of exercises and much pain inflicted. today’s appointment went extremely well, probably one of the best i have had in years. i cannot express how ecstatic i felt when physio told me my knee is recovering well, no misalignments and everything is holding up nicely with the exception of some minor spasms and tightness. i had a good feeling about this because i have been feeling great prior to the appointment and this just confirms it. it’s funny how many take what i have been longing for as a given, but for me, being pain free is a rarity and means the world to me
