day 1755 – rock of deep cove

speeding through the crowds of quarry rock to finish the entire route in fifty nine minutes. this is by far the fastest timed quarry rock i’ve ever done. it was relatively cool the whole hike up and it wasn’t until we were heading down for lunch when the sun started to peek out. although the original plan was to do st mark’s summit, we noticed the conditions appear unsafe. like most of the people we saw, we turned back and i’m glad we did. it wouldn’t have been wise to hike on ice with regular runners while people with proper hiking boots and poles were turning around

day 1516 Рlevel b certified

nine hours of my sunday spent at st john’s to take my recertification course and now i’m back to saving lives. good old timmy’s to help me get through and stay awake through the boring stuff, just like those university days. the test at the end of the course was easy peasy. i have a feeling there’s more to come in order to complete my nccp, but hopefully the next one won’t be nine hours long

huffs and bluffs

i can finally check off the top item on my hike wishlist after completing the eagle bluffs. year after year, we go on hikes together and i’m very appreciative we can continue to keep the tradition every summer. we started at the base with a group that deemed themselves as experienced hikers that’s been going all summer long. we humbly said this was our first one of the summer, and that’s no lie. not long into the hike, we left them in the dust. along the way up we stopped at a cabin lake where many people took a dip. at the very top of it all was a beautiful vantage point where we stopped to take photos, eat snacks and rest. just as we were getting up for our return trip, we saw the same group of hikers who dumbfoundedly realized they were massively lapped. we’re not experienced hikers, but we’re speedy; took us roughly four hours to complete the round trip. i still go many hikes on my wishlist and hoping i can cross off a few more next summer

day 403 – lynn canyon

morning adventure to lynn canyon to see the suspension bridge in north vancouver. first time hiking this summer due to many physical constraints but glad to report my knee has no negative feedback. ended up on a longer hiking adventure than originally planned, walking on a detoured trail and starting from opposite parking lot. note to self next time hiking with flats on trails isn’t very comfortable
