up whistler mountain we go for our little weekend escape with a blend of indoor and outdoor time. we skied whistler mountain on the first day and blackcomb mountain on the next, but both days returned to our hotel mildly frozen and then instantly warmed with a cappuccino. a great way to celebrate our ninth dining at earls and pigging out on my sirloin steak which isn’t in my normal diet. i had a good weekend not working, not stressing about school, not responding to emails, and almost undivided attention on skiing and of course mo. ideally would’ve liked to get more skiing in, but it is what it is and i’ll be sure to have more chances later this month. it was fun while it lasted, definitely looking to extend it on the next one. i have a feeling we’ll both want a warmer destination on our next go

day 1201 – oval day

we don’t go to the richmond olympic oval often, but when we do, we pack our day at the oval with nonstop events. warmed up with some basketball shoot around, rallied and had a friendly badminton match before hitting the main event – fitness centre. so thrilling to be olympic lifting on platforms for the first time and dropping them like a boss without receiving death glares. first platform experience and i made it worthwhile by setting a clean pr. after all that, ended our night swinging away at the batting cage. we rarely have days like this to ourselves, but i definitely enjoyed the day

day 1188 – sushi fix

after being out of town for four days surviving mainly on bread components, i was massively craving sushi and homecooking. i am just happy to be back in my regular routine doing mundane things, eating sushi, seeing my family and of course spending time with mo. just as he thought i only shopped for myself, i surprised him with a souvenir from portland outlet. it was a rough october with unproportional low ups to downs ratio; but more importantly i survived and look forward to a november to remember

day 1167 – thankful

wrapping up the long weekend with a relaxing day at richmond designer outlet. i’m very thankful to be able to surround myself with supportive people that’s been with me through my highs and lows. the support and guidance i received has gotten me farther than i could’ve imagined; the reason i can continue to live out and chase my dreams. i’m always a willing giver to those who saw me fail but never gave up; i didn’t give up because you didn’t give up on me. i’m not perfect, i’m a limited edition. i’ll continue to work my way towards being the best that i can be. it’s been an enjoyable long weekend with a lot of mo time, and now it’s time to work hard and chase the big dreams that awaits

day 1163 – canucks game

stopping by the pint for a burger before taking this doofus to his first ever canucks game and it was a great night. it’s been a while since i last watched one live; we’re catching the last of the preseason with a full lineup and they didn’t disappoint. wearing daniel sedin jersey tonight but i am still looking to get my customized jersey one day. five hours after eating, my stomach is still trying to digest that burger. it better be digested before the puck drop of my own hockey game

summer special

the end of september can only mean that summer is officially over. september was a rough month, but i had a great summer and offseason away from dodgeball and taekwondo life. it was a summer with lots of happenings, new undertakings and big decisions that involved making a change, stepping out of my comfort zone and of course taking a chance. i live a very active lifestyle and took full advantage of the extra free time i got this summer by making my lifestyle even more active. i found myself getting really into crossfit olympic lifting plus also making the one plate club which is a big improvement. although an injury has momentarily stopped me from lifting, nothing will stop me once i regain my health. i had a blast with mo going on adventures. together, we created a lot of lomoventures with the highlight being a nice harrison hotsprings getaway. needless to say, we’ve been through a lot and grown significantly. he’s basically my zen when i get too stressed and uptight about things. no relationship is completely problem-free – we’re not different, but we’ve done well in this area. we don’t always see eye to eye, but we make sure we’re created equal and know that we like each other for who we are, then we’ll work things out. other notable events include completing a spartan sprint, playing on a softball team, training with national team coach, hiking, joining a hockey league. and of course some things never change like hitting tennis balls, visits to physio, annual walk with the dragon and the random pigging out. i look forward to improving and building upon what summer 2016 was all about

 

day 1145 – sunday split shift

started like any other sunday morning teaching taekwondo, met up for some skating practice, then did my coaching and training while he went to the gym. we soon reconvened for dinner to enjoy our sashimi and cold ramen before finishing our laid back evening. we make the most out of our split shifts. it was a pleasant day doing things we enjoy doing. my legs and glutes are going to hurt from having so much training in the past days and definitely lacking massage and rolling
