day 1326 – queen’s tournament

kings and queens is by far the best tournament i’ve ever been to. the level of play was really high as all eight teams were stacked in both brackets. the atmosphere and competitive level was like tier 1 playoffs, only much more spirited. i had a blast playing at this tournament; i’m really proud of the team’s play. i’m just happy to be on the court even if it took layers of gauze and tape to cushion the underside. it didn’t feel great inside my shoe and the mobility was limited, but i played well while still being cautious

day 954 – gold card

image

attained my gold card status way back, but finally received the card itself in snail mail. this wasn’t exactly what i have been waiting for in the mail, but i’ll gladly take it and make it official. if i’m not mistaken, i am already entitled to all the gold card perks when i use my mobile app, but it’s good to have this card on hand. not that i needed more reasons to get wired on caffeine

day 774 – no service

image

lack of mobile service from all of yesterday has got me really frustrated. must have been a glitch with the new system updates. so instead of going to my saturday session, spent all of this morning backing up my phone, doing a factory reset and then setting up all my applications and preferences all over again. this had better fix the problem or else i’d be even more frustrated. living proof that i cannot live without my phone or other gadgets the twenty first century has to offer

day 698 – z3 upgrade

image

i finally got the phone i have been dreaming and drooling about for the past year. feels like just yesterday i thought i convinced myself to settle with the z3 and today it’s another upgrade to the all new z3+ cause i know i couldn’t settle for anything less. don’t underestimate the slightest addition of the plus because it makes the difference in the world and worth the nine hundred dollars i invested. super stoked to finally get my hands on sony’s flagship phone of the year, i am sure my eyes glow when staring at the phone

day 686 – phone in

image

there were some unexpected delays with sony’s new flagship phone release but it finally happened. my new sony xperia phone just came in today along with a handful of rogers swag. really itching to open it and use a new phone immediately, but waiting on a few things before i make my decision as to which phone it will be. i already know those golf balls will come in handy for trigger point release

resolution series: [seventeen] communicate

image

the advancement in the technological world has brought us wonders, many of which we never thought possible a decade ago. technology is great when it comes to connectivity and communication. getting up to date has never been easier and getting news out through the ever growing number of social media platforms has never been so convenient. but sometimes it just doesn’t get the message across the right way. its because of all these devices that we get a little too caught up in our own world and forget the big picture of direct contact and interaction. i must admit i am a culprit myself, always staring down at my phone swiping away and checking my newsfeed for updates on things that could probably be put on hold. there are times when it shouldn’t become top priority because there’s someone nearby that may benefit from a little conversation. while it doesn’t mean that we must hide our phones away at dinner tables, it’s a good idea not to be staring at it every waking second. good communication is the key to success; often, the good old fashioned face to face interaction is the most trustworthy one that always gets the message across the proper way. never underestimate the power of eye contact, facial expression and body language. i love my technology for what it brings me and i wouldn’t give it up, but i will always use it with care so technology doesn’t become the downfall of my communication skill

day 649 – phone call

image

taking advantage of our unlimited nationwide calling now that we are separated by three time zones. what we initially set out to be a half hour phone call became a two and a half hour conversation. we were both really tired but there was so much to talk about, we lost track of time. it was way past midnight vancouver time before we knew it and didn’t climb into bed until almost 3am

day 487 – new and old

image

my new phone case finally arrived at my door, it took so long to deliver i almost thought it got lost and would never get to me. from the naked eye, no one could tell the difference between the two, me neither. and that’s totally normal, because they are exactly the same only one is new and the other is not. i am stubborn minded and like to stick with the things that work for me

twenties series: [thirteen] economize

image

looking further ahead and thinking for long term is the smart thing to do now. its never a bad thing to start early and create a good habit to control monetary usage and handle cash flow with care. at a point where i should start thinking about investments, assets and things that would affect the markets. the last thing i need is to see my bank account balances dip slowly because of poor monetary management and unnecessary expenses. that means, controlling the frequency of eating out, holding back often temptations for online shopping and differentiating between wants and needs. its no secret i put much emphasis in my technology, my car, and my taekwondo gear. i like shopping and i love new things, who doesn’t? online shopping has made it so easy for me to make purchases, i could be spending way more than i would want to without realizing until i receive my credit card bill in the mail. for example, it doesn’t help that i have not used any phone model for more than two years, in fact, record shows i have had four phones in the past four years and three laptops within the past six years. recent investment in yet another uniform to add to my ever growing collection of taekwondo gear, but i swear this time is for a good cause

twenties series: [five] technology

image

some arguments were made that technology is altering people interaction and that we are losing the ability to communicate with face to face conversations. that may be true on some level, but can’t argue that technology is a powerful tool that has also brought us many conveniences like never before. sure, the increased gaming opportunities isn’t a good reflection but a little wouldn’t hurt. no one can argue being able to send a short message or quickly snap and send a picture through our mobile phones applications in a matter of seconds is not convenient, the simplicity to check in or tag your friends in photos to share, or the ability to retrieve an email the second it arrives is not efficient. let’s be realistic, who doesn’t own a computer or cellphone these days and who still uses land line as home phone?? the technological world is advancing so quickly, the fastest and most efficient way is to constantly be checking all sorts of platforms. i must admit i am a culprit of relying on technology everyday, every waking hour. i don’t see how that can be a bad thing because just by checking up on social media, it allows me to catch up on some friend news, gossip new and world news even if it means reading them off my facebook wall. i admit i am the person who would be swiping on my phone at the dinner table; but in my defense, being a busy person makes it is not all unncessary activity, but i am working on minimizing that. bottom line is i feel so lost and naked without my phone, i simply cannot live without technology and i don’t think its a bad thing
