the celebration of my birth with my family comes a day before because my parents are flying out for vacation. i couldn’t decide on a japanese restaurant, so settled with dai jung kum instead. we enjoyed a good dinner together completed with a combo with no shortage of food on the table – barbecue meat, seafood pancake, dumplings, soup and side dishes. i enjoyed the dinner very much, not because of the delicious food, but the opportunity to sit down and share it with my family. my birthday would never be complete unless i can spend some quality time with my loved ones that would never leave me behind
had a bunch of friends crash my house for hotpot because they heard i have the whole house all to myself this week. i don’t normally get a chance to host any parties simply cause i don’t have my own place. it’s my first hotpot of the cold wintery days. i’m so full from stuffing down all the food including beef, pork, assorted meat balls, fish tofu, mushrooms, daikon, and veggies. there’s a lot of cleaning up to do after stuffing our faces but fortunately there was a dishwasher within the group
i put myself in front of the shot to a squirtle game and it so happens to hit the only unpadded area on my leg. my whole leg went numb and i struggled to get back to the bench. good thing there’s meat on my thigh to absorb the impact of the puck. playing defense is fun, but this is one of the sacrifice to play the position. this bruise looks kind of scary and is here to stay for a while
for the first time in a long time, there was no training, meeting or hockey on a saturday night; this only meant we could have an actual saturday night to ourselves. this crazy one took me to gyu kaku barbecue to experience meat like never before and then ice cream to go with it. it’s good to eat like this once in a while even though the oil could potentially be hazardous. i’ve eaten well enough over the course of the month to have earned this treat meal
korean market shows guide to buying the perfect steak just the way you like it. i never knew there were so many choices when it comes to shopping for some dinner. looking at the diagram makes it seem like a cow’s body part is even more complicated than that of a human’s. much more complicated than i thought when all i want is some red meat. how do you like your steak??
after having a single bowl of congee in 34 hours because of an upset stomach, here’s the all you can eat late night korean bbq to make up for the lack of appetite and food. the abundance of food felt like i suddenly went from third world country to first world country. i am sure its not the brightest idea in the world, but i will just go with the flow and see how much my body wants to absorb. so much meat…i haven’t had all you can eat for so long
for the last little while, i have been craving for korean bbq with the table buzzer and silver round chopsticks. but for me, the focal point is the all important complimentary appetizers, especially bean sprouts, seaweed, kimchi and potato. usually satiated before the main course even arrives
