day 914 – leaf through

image

came across this as i was leafing through my phone album for a kickass picture request. going through these pictures bring back so much memories, the times when i seemed to have a better grasp of competition. deep down i know i miss competition and really want to be back in the game, but knowing i will not return until i can step up my game. it’s been far too long since i last competed. the longer i’m away from the competition stage, the more scared i feel. i hope i’m able to control and improve not only my game, but my state of mind

day 336 – post competition

image

top pick for competition action picture is our team taebaek during the opening ceremony demo. pretty good and synchronized considering we winged it without much practice, that’s when you know we are a team. still ways to go to match my once best kick but pleased for someone who’s been struggling to walk in recent weeks and literally kicking for the first time in over a month. glad to know i still got it in me

day 321 – guess where i am

image

taking what i deem as necessary steps to getting back on the mats, on the courts and in the gym. at physio taking orders, working hard and taking beating that will ultimately give myself the best chance and most optimal return date. here i know i am in the good hands of my physio and kinesiologists who is pushing me hard to train me better everyday. don’t ever change because you guys don’t let me slack

day 210 – dodging once again

image

my life is decent and back to normal as long as i can have my dosage of tkd, gym, dodgeball and all that’s within my passion, today was one of those days.  feeling awesome being back on the court playing like the only way i know, only this time sporting a heavy duty ankle brace and being cautious i still have my duties this weekend

day 208 – tape job

image

that’s more than half a roll of tape used in one go. this is the amount of tape required to tape my ankle and knee to provide stabilization and continue to train for this weekend. no time to sit, rest, wait or waste time because the competition is only days away and i still feel super unprepared

day 201 – back on track

today is a good day as my physio cleared me to resume light activities and training in preparation for competition. my eyes glowed and my heart exploded with joy when he broke the news to me. pleasantly surprised my physio got me back on my feet so quickly, i can’t thank my physio and kinesiologist enough for everything but i take some credit since i had to listen to stay put, work hard at rehab and do all those dorsiflexions. the best news in a week along with glimpse of sunshine in the afternoon

day 49 – new dodgeball season

image

first week of the season is upon us!! back for more dodgeball with new team but many familiar faces. i am curious to see how rusty my throwing and dodging skills are, how much chemistry i have with new teammates and how sore i will be after laying off for a full year. this gym seems a lot smaller than i remember, but it’s still the same game of dodgeball i  know
