day 2526 – box spots

using my plyometric boxes as box squat spotters once again while i’m still in the recovery phase. the box squats felt better than last time so i added an extra thirty pounds compared to last week. i’m hopeful that i can resume regular squats soon but i also understand i won’t push it too hard too quickly. there’s still a lot of squatting ahead of me so what’s another two weeks of recovery. i’ll take the progress i’m given

day 2510 – starbucks vibe

the starbucks addiction that i’ve managed to rip off is creeping back in. i really needed my caffeine fix this morning since my friend dropped by for an early lift. i wasn’t planning to do any exercise so my finger could have a break, but watching them made me want to do things too. i woke up far too sore in my lower back to do any more lower body work. i stuck with lighter upper body lifts like overhead press, skullcrushers and delt raises. still got a pretty decent workout in before i did some back end work

day 2502 – surrendered

after a night of ankle disappointment, i still persisted to do the normal morning lift. it wasn’t the normal workload, but it was all that i could muster; did lighter deadlifts and changed up the squats for some overhead presses. it’s also the first time i took a step back and surrendered tricking class even though i wasn’t busy. it didn’t feel right missing my tricking routine, but it also felt right because my body needed to rest and reset. i thought it made more sense to sacrifice today’s class for a chance to have a stronger week

day 2485 – rogue sponsored

one of my quarantine project was to build a squat rack that stands out from the rest of the diy’s. though it’s only about ninety percent complete, i’m really happy with how it’s turning out. it looks sick and everything i had imagined in my head. the only downfall of the rack is certain parts of the wood can chip easily simply because it’s exposed to heavy contact. it’s been a fun experience full of learning, from design to modeling to woodworking to constructing to spray painting. along the topic of fitness, i made a decision to start my bubble tea ban today because i’m starting a sixty day cut. during this time i’ll eat clean and be disciplined with my intake

day 2483 – deadlift surprises

if you asked me three weeks ago when i started doing deadlifts after a couple years, i would not have expected to pull much over one plate. i was just trying to get my deadlift technique back, and was hovering around the one hundred twenty five mark. ever since i picked up the extra plate, we’ve been lifting much heavier. definitely felt super good after pulling one ninety five for three reps, which is thirty pounds shy of my all time personal record. i’m hoping i can match my two plate personal best before quarantine ends

day 2479 – squamish drive

i was pretty bummed out the weather cancelled my tennis plans. instead of sitting around wasting my saturday, my friend and i decided to take a road trip up to squamish to pick up the plates another friend offered to lend me. it was a long drizzly drive, but it was nice to take shadow out for what might possibly be my last road trip with him. we got home and couldn’t wait to put the weights to good use – a one rep max kind of session. from the get go, i said i would be satisfied being able to deadlift one hundred and eighty five but i went on to attempt a twenty hundred and five which was a no go

day 2478 – carcassonne

finishing the week off strong with two good back to back lifting sessions today. unlike last friday’s apex session where i missed more than half my lifts, i had all makes today using the green plates. got home and did a second lift with my flightclub fam. hitting the four big lifts and then some accessories. i was able to attempt sprints on the last two laps which feels like a win for me and my healing knee. chilled on my computer with friends for the rest of the afternoon learning how to play a new board game

day 2384 – clean waves

building on last week’s workout by adding two kilos to all my cleans in the wave. pleased that i made all my lifts and majority of them felt good. heaviest clean of the day was fifty seven kilos, which matches the heaviest i’ve attempted at apex but failed to make a year ago. i dread the panda pull for it’s an extraordinary drill i still don’t understand. last part of the workout was heavy jerk dips at seventy kilos. i don’t think i’ve ever felt much weight on my front rack, but i didn’t die

day 2374 – squat days

skipping the paused squats and added a little bit of weight to the old fashioned back squats. it was deloaded week so kept the weights in check and didn’t stretch myself too far. i also did some lighter cleans for feelers and they felt doable. i hope return to apex this week and start off feeling more fresh. it being the first of february sure seems like some resolutioners dropped off because the gym is slowly becoming less packed

day 2321 – frozen 2

tuesday cheap movie day isn’t really all that cheap because the ticket still cost over twelve dollars. i went to do a quick workout session at apex before joining the girls for frozen 2. i enjoyed the movie and i found it very funny and thought the songs were really good as well. it was half past night by the time i got home and i didn’t do all that much before heading to bed. i’ve been lacking sleep quality since sunday so trying to do some catching up
