day 2157 – civil appearance

after three weeks of vacation, and two weeks of bailing due to unforeseen circumstances, i’m making my appearance back at civil war. i was worried i wouldn’t remember how to gear up or how to skate. to be honest, my legs were gassed halfway through the ice time. living proof that there are some things you don’t forget once you learn, but there are things that will feel slow and be out of shape after a while. i understand why people could puke first day back after some time. it’s a good feeling to be back on the ice, i’m sure my legs will have some affect tomorrow

day 2130 – ghent city

made another day trip out of today, this time to the city of ghent. this city, similar to antwerp, also has a lot of canals and historical buildings. the rows of houses along the canal are quite photogenic. i enjoyed the scenic walk along the canal, but my feet and legs are really worn out after so many days of constant walking. we got back in town before dinner time and finished the last of belgium shopping. at this point i’m really starting to feel homesick, missing so much of what i have in vancouver

day 2114 – on the minute

so apparently there’s an apex pre-vacation special that no one’s told me about. anyone wishing to go on vacation would have to get through special grueling workouts leading up to it. today i experienced it with twenty on the minute snatches, a hundred kettle bell squats, then finish off with pullups and leg levers. i was already weak and achy after being bed ridden, but i thoroughly couldn’t feel my body by the end of the session. my body aches in so many ways i do not expect to move well tomorrow. i guess i have to earn my vacation

day 1997 – planet ice delta

playing forward at delta for the first time this season and it paid off. i finally scored my first goal this season and it was quite the beauty. swooped into the offensive zone and one-timed a big rebound off the end boards. it was a big win for the team that put us at the top of our division; definitely worth celebrating upstairs at boomers bar and grill. i did what i had to do so i’m content going back on defense for the remainder of the season

day 1969 – change room fun

this is the last game for squirtle before the holiday. my legs are really feeling it being the second game in two nights. it doesn’t help that someone fell onto my already bad leg on the very first shift. we have fun on and off the ice – post game fun in the girls change room before the boys joined in. we played some target trust games and i got the bottle challenge on the second try. going to rest up overnight and see if my legs will be apt to go back on ice tomorrow morning

day 1891 – jump squats

walking wasn’t easy the day after i went ham with jump squats at end of class conditioning. it got me good, so good that i didn’t really want to move today. my quads are tired and stiff from the twelve sets. i only managed to do a little sample size of active recovery and a whole lot of foam rolling. it helps that i had tutor lined up after work so i wouldn’t be tempted to do other sporting activities

day 1792 – supreme me

ate a late night banana and hope i don’t get leg cramps overnight after a night of flipping and hockey sandwiched with a quick dinner. got a chance to test out my newly acquired supreme shin pads and i like the coverage. overall, my line played a good game despite getting hit in the ribs with a slapshot during warmup. i felt it immediately and hunched over for a good while and the fact adrenaline hasn’t clicked in wasn’t a good feeling. it hit hit directly in unpadded territory between my pants and chest protector. i’ll definitely see the big bruise tomorrow morning
